Vancouver Whitecaps vs. San Jose Earthquakes Odds and Betting Trends
Vancouver is the clear home favourite at -182 on the MLS odds, while San Jose sits as the decided underdogs at +475. A draw is also available at +333.
The over/under sits at 2.5 goals, something Vancouver has easily reached in three of its four MLS matches.
The Whitecaps’ Thomas Muller, the veteran German international, is listed at +125 to score and -225 to score or assist a goal.
Vancouver Whitecaps
Although Vancouver isn’t completely flawless, the 2025 MLS runners-up are certainly on a mission this season.
Brian White, in particular, has been red-hot. He scored a brace in last week’s 6-0 rout of Minnesota, giving him back-to-back league games with multiple goals.
Sebastian Berhalter has scored twice and already assisted on four other goals, and Muller has found the back of the net as well.
Injuries to captain Ryan Gauld (knee procedure, missing early season), Sam Adekugbe (Achilles rupture), Ranko Veselinović (knee/ACL issues), Belal Halbouni (knee), and Tristan Blackmon (calf) will test the team’s depth moving forward.
BC Place was a fortress for the Whitecaps last season, where they went 10-3-4 in league play. That trend has continued into this season, with Vancouver outscoring opponents by 10 goals in three shutout wins.
San Jose Earthquakes
The Earthquakes have impressed with three wins in their opening four games. It has been a collective effort offensively, as Daniel Munie, Ousseni Bouda, and Preston Judd all have two goals in the early season.
Niko Tsakiris, Jamar Ricketts, and Timo Werner each have two assists. Werner’s arrival has created excitement, and his impact off the bench in the recent win over Atlanta already is noted.
Injuries include Hernán López (shoulder surgery, out 3-4 months), and potential knocks to others like E. Edwards Jr. and R. Vieira (with expected returns any time now), but the core attack remains available.
Despite last week’s shutout loss at home, the Earthquakes are carrying confidence from their hot start.
MLS Prediction: Who Will Win Vancouver Whitecaps vs. San Jose Earthquakes?
Despite that confidence, Vancouver should win easily at home. Three of White’s five tallies have come at BC Place, as well as both of Muller’s goals. Their class should outweigh San Jose’s current form. Berhalter’s creativity should be a specific boon in this matchup. He could easily add another assist or two to his early-season tally. Look for Vancouver to hold court at home and win 2-0.
