Toronto FC vs. Philadelphia Union MLS Preview and Prediction

Despite a less-than-stellar 3-3 draw with Austin FC last weekend, Toronto FC is now unbeaten (3-0-3) in its last six matches overall, and last 12 (4-0-8) at home.

That’s where Toronto will be Wednesday night, as it hosts Philadelphia Union at BMO Field at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Daniel Salloi, Riche Laryea, and Kobe Franklin scored second-half goals to match Austin FC, which scored three goals for the first time this season. Salloi’s was his team-leading third this season.

Laryea scored his second and 15th of his career for his hometown club, and Franklin opened his Toronto FC account with the 88th-minute equalizer to salvage the tie.

Philadelphia, last season’s Supporters’ Shield winner, opened the 2026 campaign with six straight defeats, but has rebounded with a 2-1 road victory at CF Montreal and last weekend’s scoreless draw at home with D.C. United.

The Union went 1-0-1 against Toronto last season, and is one of the last clubs, along with Charlotte, to win at BMO Field.

Toronto FC vs. Philadelphia Union Odds and Betting Trends

Toronto FC is a narrow favourite for this contest at +145 on the MLS odds, with the draw at +240 and Philadelphia Union the underdog at +180. The over/under sits at 2.5 goals, with the over slightly favoured at -118. The under is listed at -106.

Toronto FC

It’s been nearly two months since Toronto lost 3-0 at Vancouver. Since then, coach Robin Fraser’s side has gone 3-0-3, including a 2-0-3 run at home. However, the three goals conceded against Austin FC harken back to those poor early performances, when a porous defence surrendered six goals in Toronto’s opening two matches.

Attacking midfielder Djordje Mihailovic is still out with a pelvic stress fracture. Centre-back Nicksoen Gomis, who had surgery on his Achilles, is still out, and right-back Henry Wingo is out until mid-May with a hamstring issue.

Salloi, the Hungarian international, continues to impress with three goals. The team is averaging 1.6 goals per match. The problem is they are conceding 1.8, hence their -1 goal differential.

Philadelphia Union

What a dismal start for Philadelphia. The Union are 1-6-1 with just six goals, meaning they are 13th in the East and seven slots below Toronto.

Recent performance does provide hope. The last time coach Brad Carnell’s side went north of the border, it came away with its only victory of the season, a 2-1 triumph over Montreal. Japhet Sery and Jesus Bueno tallied for the winners.

Somebody, anybody, has to emerge as a consistent scoring threat as six different players have goals, but nobody has two. Tai Baribo has provided spark upon returning from injury, offering presence up top.

Agustín Anello is out until mid-May with a hamstring injury, and Quinn Sullivan is out for the foreseeable future with a torn ACL.

MLS Prediction: Who Will Win Toronto FC vs. Philadelphia Union?

Take away a five-minute stint where Toronto fell apart on defence, and the club is likely coming into Wednesday night’s match with another win. Toronto outshot Austin 18-12, forcing eight saves from Brad Stuver.

Philadelphia has not shown that it can match a team shot for shot. Take Toronto to win 2-1.
