DC United vs. Inter Miami MLS odds and prediction

The reigning MLS champions face DC United on Saturday at 4:30 pm ET at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD. With Lionel Messi’s star power, it made sense to move this match to a considerably larger venue than Audi Stadium, but it may not affect the final result.

It took three halves of play, but the Herons finally woke up last week against Orlando FC in the Florida Derby. Trailing 2-0 at the break, Inter Miami reeled off four straight goals, including a brace from Messi, to pick up their first win of the season.

DC United were MLS’s original juggernaut, winning three titles in the league’s first four seasons, but the club hasn’t made an MLS Cup since 2004 and has failed to qualify for the postseason each of the past six years.

New coach Rene Weiler’s side got off to a great start, as new signing Tai Baribo scored against his former club in a 1-0 opening weekend victory over the Philadelphia Union. However, they managed just three shots from inside the box in a 1-0 defeat at Austin FC last week.

DC United vs. Inter Miami Odds and Betting

Inter Miami are 4-3-3 straight up in their last 10 matches against DC United, including 1-0-1 last season, when the clubs played to a 1-1 draw in DC in August and Inter won at home in September, 3-2.

DC United are 1-0 against the spread at home, while Inter Miami are 1-1 ATS on the road.

DC United

The club conceded an Eastern Conference-worst 66 goals last season, so one allowed through the first two matches counts for a good start.

Baribo is one of a handful of critical offseason signings meant to boost the fortunes of the much-maligned club. Veteran goalkeeper Sean Johnson came over from Toronto and has already made 11 saves, in addition to posting a clean sheet.

The big question for Saturday is whether club-record signing Louis Munteanu will start. The Romanian international has come off the bench in the first two matches.

Replacing legend Sergio Busquets, who retired, is a tall task, but Argentine Rodrigo De Paul appears up for it.

Telasco Segovia had a goal and an assist last week, while Mateo Silvetto came on as a substitute and kicked off Inter Miami’s comeback with a golazo.

Two early disappointments involve notable offseason signings. German Berterame has registered just one shot on goal in two matches, while Dayne St. Clair – the 2025 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year – has yet to post a clean sheet.

MLS Prediction: Who Will Win DC United vs Inter Miami?

Last week’s offensive ineptitude is not the performance Weiler wanted out of his United side ahead of the marquee matchup with Messi and company. The club had a solid defensive start, no doubt bolstered by Johnson and Australian international center back Kye Rowles.

However, that unit is stepping up in class on Saturday afternoon. It’s hard to see United containing Messi for a full 90 minutes, especially with all the firepower surrounding him. Look for Inter Miami to post their second straight win and first clean sheet of the season with a 3-0 result in Baltimore.
