It was reported that 2.9 million Canadians watched the game on across CBC, TSN and Sportsnet.
PWHL Odds and Betting Analysis
Toronto
Toronto has now played three games, including the very first PWHL game, as it comes into this clash with provincial neighbour Ottawa.
This is a new league and these are new teams who are not only finding their chemistry, but looking for their identity as well. So far, Toronto looks like they haven’t quite gelled yet. For their home (and league) opener, they couldn’t get anything going on offence, and New York took advantage, winning 4-0. Toronto also took plenty of penalties during their frustrating first outing.
Maybe the lopsided loss did them some good, as they came back for their second game, also against New York, clearly having made adjustments, and got the 3-2 win.
Their only other game was on Wednesday against the league-leading Minnesota club, which resulted in a 3-1 Toronto loss.
Ottawa
Ottawa hasn’t had a chance to play much yet. They had their first game at home against Montreal on January 2nd, and put up a great battle, only losing to the Quebec team in overtime with a final score of 3-2.
According to a PWHL statement, Ottawa was supposed to play Boston at the Tsongas Center on Monday, but due to inclement weather in the US, the team’s travel plans were kiboshed and the game postponed.
This team has only played the one game, but they played well enough to presume that they won’t be steamrolled by Toronto this weekend.
