Wednesday's NHL Betting Picks
Puck Luck
Philadelphia Flyers at Detroit Red Wings (-130, 5)
It looks as though the Red Wings will be without their entire starting No. 1 line tonight against the Flyers. Henrik Zetterberg, who leads the Wings with 30 points, is out for a couple of weeks with a back injury, Pavel Datsyuk is still recovering from a concussion, and Todd Bertuzzi is out with. Meanwhile, even though Philly’s Vincent Lecavalier may also sit with a back ailment, this might be the best chance the Flyers have to take down Detroit all season. Philadelphia has dropped three of its last road games and needs to start picking up a few points as visitors. This is far from a gimme, but it’s a decent price for a Flyers bet on the road.
Pick: Philadelphia Flyers
Montreal Canadiens at New Jersey Devils (-110, 5)
In the first half of this home-and-home, Carey Price stole the game for the Habs with 28 saves in a 3-2 win. With Martin Brodeur returning to Montreal for the first time since his father passed away and the Habs earning their sixth win in seven games, a lot was swept under the rug. However, the Devils did a great job at limiting Montreal’s chances in that one. They held the Habs to 17 shots, which was the third consecutive game they’ve allowed fewer than 20 shots on goal. Corey Schneider is back in the cage tonight and if New Jersey holds Montreal to fewer than 20 attempts again, this one will check in below the total.
Pick: Under
