David Backes St. Louis Blues

St. Louis Blues at Boston Bruins (-120, 5)

The Boston Bruins were completely outplayed in their 2-1 win over the New York Rangers. They were beaten to pucks all over the rink and ended up being outshot 44-22. If not for a couple of fortunate breaks and Tuukka Rask saving their bacon in the Boston net, they could have been on the other end of a blowout. St. Louis is a tough, fast team that will make the Bruins earn every inch of ice. Boston could be short on the blue line without Adam McQuaid and Dennis Seidenberg and the Blues will take advantage of that down low. Look for a big game from Blues captain David Backes, who is set at +363 to hit the back of the net.

Pick: St. Louis Blues

Florida Panthers at Edmonton Oilers (-135, 5.5)

The Edmonton Oilers might finally be ready to string a few wins together. Following a hard-fought win over the Flames, they pasted the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-0. It was the kind of win that pulls a team together. Five different Oilers registered at least two points including David Perron notching two goals and a pair of assists. They have to be careful not to take the Panthers lightly, but this is another opponent Edmonton should beat up on.

Pick: Edmonton Oilers

Nashville Predators at Toronto Maple Leafs (-145, 5.5)

The Maple Leafs will reportedly go back to goaltender Jonathan Bernier after he made 35 saves in Tuesday’s win over the New York Islanders. The Predators are at their best when they’re playing cautiously, waiting to counter-attack. That’s basically the same thing the Leafs try to do every night so don’t expect a pile of goals in this one.
