St. Louis Blues vs. Dallas Stars Odds: 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs
It’s been fifteen years since these two teams met in the playoffs, and back then the Blues swept the Stars. In this year’s regular season meetings, the Blues beat the Stars four out of five times, and they are coming off of a hard-fought battle against the reigning Stanley Cup champions. However, it was Dallas that won the Central Division two points ahead of the Blues to secure the home-ice advantage. The Blues are currently the -147 favorite to win this series against the Dallas Stars.
Stanley Cup Playoffs Round 2: Dallas Stars vs. St. Louis Blues
Series Winner Odds:Blues -147
Home Team Advantage: Dallas Stars
St. Louis Blues
Brian Elliott is going to be a real factor if the Blues continue to forge ahead in their quest for the championship. He started off strong against the Blackhawks before stumbling a bit, only to turn out one of the greatest performances by a goalie in a game 7 in recent memory. If THAT Brian Elliott shows up for this round against the Stars, they are going to be a very hard team to beat, especially when you put Alex Pietrangelo in front of him.
Dallas Stars
Dallas boasted the league’s top offence during the regular season, with 3.23 goals per game. With Jamie Benn and Jason Spezza, they have strong, physical offensive weapons on an already deep roster. If Tyler Seguin is in top form, they will be challenging opponents for the Blues. In net, the Stars have both Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi, both of whom played and won in the first round match up against the Minnesota Wild, but if this round comes down to goaltending, Brian Elliott and the Blues have the advantage.
Prediction: St. Louis Blues in 6
