Red Wings vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

Thursday’s clash marks the second and final regular season meeting between these clubs. The Oilers eked out a 3-2 overtime win when they visited the Motor City back on October 27 and have now topped the Red Wings in five of six dates including a one-sided 8-4 win when these teams last met in Edmonton 11 months ago. The Oilers have bounced back from a recent two-game slide with three straight wins but needed to overcome an early 2-0 deficit in Monday’s win over the Kraken. Edmonton has been dominant on home ice during their current 9-1-0 run, surrendering just 1.70 goals per game and have outgunned opponents by a combined 13-6 margin while winning their past three. The Red Wings have clawed their way back into playoff contention during their current 11-3-1 run but have produced mixed results on the road, going 3-4-1 over their past eight and have lost in six of nine matchups with Western Conference opponents.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings have resurrected what looked to be a lost season by starting the new year on a torrid run. The club has outscored opponents by a combined 11-4 margin during their current three-game tear and have scored at least four times in nine of their past 11 wins. Lucas Raymond provided the spark in the club’s win over the Kings, scoring once and adding three assists and has picked up at least a point in four of five road games. Dylan Larkin contributed a pair of helpers in Monday’s win and has now picked up multiple points in two of three contests.

Edmonton Oilers

Currently perched atop the Stanley Cup odds as +600 chalk, the Oilers have quickly emerged as one of the toughest teams in the league when playing on home ice. Stingy goaltending has been key to the club’s recent success, with the tandem of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard combining to limit opponents to just 2.21 goals per game during an 11-3-0 run that has featured six multi-goal victories. Rearguard Mattias Ekholm set the pace with a goal and an assist in Monday’s win and has tallied four points during three-game points streak. Connor McDavid also found the back of the net and has now recorded five goals and three assists during a five-game points streak.
