New York Rangers vs. Vegas Golden Knights Prediction, NHL Odds
The Vegas Golden Knights return home and aim to break out of a slump when they host the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.
Vegas has dropped five of their last six outings and have dropped all the way to the bubble of the Western Conference playoff picture. New York’s trended in the opposite direction as they just had a three-game win streak snapped on Sunday. The Rangers are set to begin a three-game road trip starting with Vegas, and being on the road is a massive advantage this season for New York (more on that below).
Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena goes at 10 p.m. EST with Vegas a -155 moneyline favourite on home ice and the over-under at six on the NHL odds.
Rangers vs. Golden Knights NHL Betting Odds
The Rangers have one of the wildest home-away splits in recent memory. Sunday’s loss put New York’s home record down to 1-7-1 this season but they are 9-1-1 on the road and have won six straight road games heading into Vegas. Three of those six wins have required overtime, but a large part of that success has to do with the Rangers allowing 10 goals over six straight road victories.
Vegas is 1-4 in their last five home appearances and have won just two of their last bouts against Eastern Conference opponents. The Golden Knights have scored more than three goals in a game just once in November but still rank in the middle of the league with 3.17 goals per game. The Rangers are 30th in scoring with 2.45 goals per game, but second in the NHL with 2.45 goals allowed per game. The under has hit in six of these teams’ last seven meetings.
New York Rangers
Jonathan Quick could be earning more starts in the near future with the way he’s playing. Quick started in Sunday’s 2-1 loss, but the 39-year-old has posted a .951 save percentage in five starts this season. Igor Shesterkin is still the top guy in New York and should start Tuesday, but it’s hard to imagine he and Quick do not both play over this three-game trip.
Mika Zibanejad has been on a roll offensively, scoring three goals in his last four outings and he is bringing a four-game point streak into Tuesday. Zibanjead’s seven goals leads the Rangers. Will Cuylle has provided a needed offensive boost too with five goals this month. The two skate on New York’s top line alongside J.T. Miller, who’s been cold this month with one goal and one assist in eight outings.
Vegas Golden Knights
With Adin Hill on injured reserve, Vegas’ goaltending situation is becoming a problem. The duo of Akira Schmid and Carl Lindbom are both below .900 save percentages with a combined 15 games played. Carter Hart is officially on an AHL conditioning stint, but is not eligible to play in the NHL until December 1.
The bigger problem might be that Vegas’ is getting no offensive support as of late. Scoring more than three goals has been a rarity for the Golden Knights, as players like Jack Eichel are scoreless this month. Leading scorer Pavel Dorofeyev has cooled off too with just two goals this month but did find the back of the net on Sunday at Minnesota. 22-year-old Braeden Bowman is now skating on Vegas’ top line alongside Eichel and Ivan Barbashev. Bowman scored his first NHL goal on Saturday and put up four shots in two of his three NHL games so far.
