The New York Rangers’ three-game Western Canadian road swing concludes in Calgary Saturday night.  New York’s dropped two consecutive overtime games, first against Vancouver on Tuesday and second against Edmonton Friday.  Coincidentally, Calgary has also dropped their last two games in overtime, falling at home to Nashville and Dallas.

The Flames are -152 favourites to win on the NHL odds, with a total of 5.5.

Rangers vs. Flames NHL Betting Odds

Calgary is likely feeling confident heading into this one, after downing the Rangers 5-1 in New York on Oct. 25.  Chris Tanev, Andrew Mangiapane (two goals), Blake Coleman and Mikael Backlund all found the back of the net for the Flames, while Jacob Markstrom stopped 28 of 29 shots.  Kevin Rooney scored for New York and Igor Shesterkin stopped 32 of 37 shots.  That game seems to be influencing Sports Interaction bettors, as 79 per cent of action on is taking Calgary in this one.

The Rangers have been pretty good on the road this year, going 5-1-2 away from Madison Square Garden.  Historically they’ve struggled against Calgary, however, as they’ve dropped four of their last five contests against the Flames.  New York is 6-5 against the spread for the season, covering in five of eight road games.  The total has gone Under in eight of the Rangers’ last 10 games overall and six of their last seven on the road.

The Saddledome hasn’t been much of a boost for Calgary this season, with the Flames compiling a 1-0-3 home record.  They have, however, been dominant against the Eastern Conference overall.  Calgary is 8-0 straight up in their last eight games against East teams and 7-0 SU in their last seven against Metropolitan Division teams.  They’re 6-4 ATS this year, but have only covered in one of four home games.  The total has gone Under in six of the Flames’ last nine home games dating back to last season.

New York Rangers

For a second straight game, the Rangers were able to salvage a point, but still couldn’t get the win against Edmonton Friday night.  New York led for most of the game, at one point holding a 4-1 lead in the second period.  Some magic from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl eventually ended the game.  Filip Chytil, Rooney, Chris Kreidar and Mika Zibanejad (two goals) had the strikes for the Rangers.  Defenceman and reigning Norris Trophy winner Adam Fox leads the team with 12 points (2G, 10A).  Alexander Georgiev stopped 33 of 39 shots against Edmonton.  Shesterkin should get the start in net against Calgary.  The 25-year-old has had a strong start to the year, posting a 5-1-2 record with a 1.85 goals-against average and .943 save percentage.

Calgary Flames

Calgary will go for their seventh win in their last nine games on Saturday.  Milan Lucic, Matthew Tkachuk and Nikita Zadorov scored for the Flames against Dallas on Thursday, but it wasn’t enough in the 4-3 overtime loss.  Elias Lindholm leads the team with 12 points (7G, 5A).  It is worth noting that Calgary has picked up a point in nine straight games.  Jacob Markstrom stopped 24 of 28 shots against Dallas and should get the start against New York.  Markstrom is 4-1-3 on the year, with a 1.85 GAA and .936 SV.  He’s currently leading the NHL with three shutouts.
