Ottawa is 4-7-2 this month and has just two games left in January before the All-Star break. They are dead last in the Atlantic Division, 10 points behind the next team with no hope of playoffs this season. The Predators are amid a tight playoff race in the Western Conference, sitting just one point of the postseason. They two have a pair of games before the break and a wildcard spot is well within reach.

The puck drop will drop at 7:00 PM EST. at Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata Ontario. Our NHL odds have the Senators as a slight favourite at home on Monday night, with the OVER/UNDER set at 6.5 goals.

Predators vs. Senators NHL Betting Odds

This is the season’s first meeting between these squads, but Nashville has won four of the past five head-to-heads dating back to the 2020 season. Each of those five matchups has played the UNDER never has total goals higher than five.

Nashville’s Ryan O’Reilly tends to appear on the scoresheet when facing the Senators. He has more than a point-per-game with (8G 17A) 25 points in 23 games, including six points in his last three games against the Sens.

The Preds played the UNDER for the seventh straight game Saturday afternoon in a 4-1 loss in Edmonton. Their offence has been very stale over the stretch, averaging just 1.9 goals per game in the last seven, including being held to a single goal in three of those games. They have only managed one win in their past four games, in which they covered the spread as well. They are 23-26 on the spread this season.

After covering the spread for five straight games, the Sens had that streak snapped on Saturday taking a 7-2 beating from the Rangers and now sit 22-23 ATS on the year. They play the OVER a ton, including seven of their past 10 games. The offence is carrying its load, scoring 3.3 goals per game (11th in NHL), but their defence and goaltending is what is keeping them in the basement of the NHL’s standings. They have the third-worst goals-against average in the league, allowing 3.7 per game.

Nashville Predators

The Predators were the most recent victim of the red-hot Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, helping the Oil roll to their 16th straight victory. Nashville played well enough to win the game, holding Edmonton to just 21 shots on goal and outshooting them 29-21, but losing the special teams battle lost them the game in the end. Edmonton’s first two goals came on the powerplay and Connor McDavid scored at 5-on-5 in the third for a 3-0 lead. Colton Sissons’ thirteenth goal of the season in the third period was all the offence they would get, as an empty net goal brought it to a 4-1 final.

Their schedule this month has been tough facing teams at or above a .500 win percentage in nine of the 12 games they played in January. Facing a struggling Senators team could get their sluggish offence back on track before the All-Star break.

They will return home to face the LA Kings on Wednesday before the end of the month, then they will enjoy a 10-day break from the rink.

Ottawa Senators

A five-game point streak, the Sens’ longest of the season, was snapped on Saturday when the New York Rangers came to visit. It looked like Ottawa was going to be competitive and maybe even pull off an upset after scoring on an early powerplay in the second period to take a 2-0 lead, but the good vibes did not last long. New York answered with seven consecutive goals, five in the second period, followed by two more in the third. Ottawa did outshoot the Rangers 31-29 in the contest but they needed more against one of the NHL’s top teams.

The Senators’ goaltending issue proved to be the deciding factor again in this one as Joonas Korpisalo got the start for the third straight game. He was pulled after allowing five goals on 17 shots and replaced by Mads Sogaard in the second period. Sogaard was not much better, giving up two on 11 shots. Both options in net have a save percentage below .890 while allowing over 3.5 goals per game.
