Nashville Predators vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction, NHL Odds

The scuffling-again Oilers look to avoid a winless three-game homestand when they host a surging Nashville Predators team on Tuesday night. Edmonton is -170 on the NHL odds with a total of 6.5 goals.

Predators vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

Nashville was one of the NHL’s biggest disappointments sitting 6-12-4 in late November but has turned things around for the most part – it just might be too late to prevent a sell-off at the trade deadline. Just about every contender has inquired about Preds leading scorer and 34-year-old Clinton native Ryan O’Reilly. The centre has 11 goals and 24 assists but absolutely could be the difference in a very good team getting over the top. Future Hall of Famer and Markham native Steven Stamkos also could be had, but his $8 million (US) annual salary will make that a bit more difficult. He has been mostly a bust since signing that big free-agent deal in the summer of 2024.

Edmonton, meanwhile, seemed to have solved most of its issues but now has lost back-to-back home games in blowout fashion and three of four overall – scoring exactly two goals in each of those defeats. A winless three-game homestand would not be a disaster but certainly not ideal.

Almost impossibly now that we are into 2026, Tuesday marks the first of three regular-season meetings between the clubs. The Oilers have won five straight season series vs. the Predators and swept three in 2024-25. Leon Draisaitl (2G, 4A) led with six points, while Darnell Nurse had five (2G, 3A) and Connor McDavid (2G, 1A) three. Calvin Pickard was terrific in winning all three with a 1.65 GAA and .935 SV. Former Norris Trophy winner Roman Josi (3A) led Nashville with three points. Juuse Saros allowed eight goals on 64 shots in losing his two starts.

The Oilers are 8-2 in the past 10 meetings overall, while the over-under is 4-4-2.

Nashville Predators

On Saturday, Nashville won 4-3 in Calgary to get over .500 for the first time since Oct. 25. Nicolas Hague’s second goal of the second with 28 seconds left broke the tie. It was the latest go-ahead goal by a Predators skater since Alexandre Carrier on Jan. 13, 2024 with eight seconds left.

Erik Haula scored twice in a 1:33 span in the first period in his 800th NHL game. But it was Michael Bunting who was the No. 1 star with a goal and three assists for his second career four-point game. The other came on Feb. 26, 2022, while playing with the Maple Leafs.

Steven Stamkos had two assists but didn’t score and remains two goals shy from 16th career 20-goal season, which would be the fourth most among active skaters behind Alex Ovechkin (20), Sidney Crosby (18) and Patrick Kane (17) – all former MVPs.

Juuse Saros stopped 20 of 23 shots to improve 7-7-1 on the road with a 3.10 GAA and .882 SV. He’s probably in there again to conclude a seven-game trip. Nashville is 1-7 in its past eight in Edmonton.

Edmonton Oilers

After a hugely disappointing 6-2 home loss to Boston on New Year’s Eve, many expected the Oilers to really show up Saturday vs. Philadelphia, but it was nearly as bad an effort in a 5-2 loss. It was 3-0 less than 15 minutes into the first.

Connor McDavid (25th goal of season) and Evan Bouchard (eighth) eventually made it interesting before Philly clinched with an empty-net goal. McDavid scored to extend his point streak to 15 games – his sixth career run at last that long. Only one Oilers player has as many 15-game point streaks: Wayne Gretzky with 12. He holds the all-time mark with 19, while Mario Lemieux is second with seven.

Calvin Pickard was in net, but it’s likely back to Connor Ingram for this one, although Ingram has allowed a combined nine goals in back-to-back losses. The Oilers really need Tristan Jarry to get healthy fast. Blueliner Jake Walman is also on IR but practiced Monday; he’s not expected back, though, for at least a few more games. Edmonton is 5-2 in its past seven vs. the West.
