Pierre-Luc Dubois to Kings, Signs Max Contract

In what is being described as a “sign-and-trade” deal, Pierre-Luc Dubois, who for a while was rumoured to be heading to La Belle Province, was traded to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. In addition to that, he signs a max contract for eight years that’s worth $68 million. The annual average value is $8.5 million.

In return, the Jets acquire the players who emerged as trading bait in the news on Monday. Forwards Gabriel Vilardi, Alex Iafallo and Rasmus Kupari are now members of Winnipeg’s squad. Furthermore, the Jets get a second-round pick in 2024.

Despite what many believed for weeks, if not months, it turned out that discussions between Winnipeg and L.A. really heated up over the weekend, with Montreal falling behind.

Dubois is still a very young player, having been drafted by Columbus in 2018. In 2022-2023 with the Jets, he scored 27 goals, bolstered by 36 assists for a total of 63 points in 73 games.
