Ottawa Senators vs. Boston Bruins: NHL Odds, Prediction

The Ottawa Senators might not be a favourite more than a handful of times this season – and that could mean big value for bettors in the right spots. The Sens have earned three of a possible four points on the season, while the Bruins have been on both ends of a shutout in their first two games.

NHL Odds and Betting Analysis

This is an incredibly one-sided money line considering both teams are just two games into their 2018-19 campaigns – but they come into this one with vastly different sets of expectations. Boston is considered one of the front-runners to come out of the East, while it’ll be a minor miracle if the Senators don’t finish with one of the worst records in the league. But underdog better take note: Ottawa has won six of its previous eight visits to Boston.

From a totals perspective, this game carries a 6, which seems about right given that both teams have been involved in some high-scoring affairs already. Ottawa has seen an average of 7.5 total goals scored in their first two games, while the Bruins dropped a 7-0 decision in their season opener against Washington before rebounding with a 4-0 triumph over Buffalo. The over has cashed three times with one push in the last five meetings at TD Garden.

Ottawa Senators

Give Ottawa full credit for escaping Chicago with a point, then going into Scotiabank Arena and stunning the Stanley Cup favourites in their own building. Most impressively: seven different Senators players have scored through the first two game, with defenceman Thomas Chabot the only player with multiple tallies. But building a winning streak proved difficult for Ottawa late last season, as it enters Monday having gone 0-4 SU in its last four games following a win.

Boston Bruins

Are the Bruins already looking at a goaltending controversy? To hear some fans talk about it, Tuukka Rask is headed for a prolonged seat on the bench after being torched for five goals on 14 shots in that season-opening loss to the Capitals. Yet, while Jaroslav Halak has performed admirably in his stead (1.30 GAA, .960 SV %, 1 SO), Rask will likely get a chance to atone Monday against a Sens team that ranked 25th in goals per game in 2017-18 (2.67).
