Edmonton Oilers vs. Dallas Stars Prediction, NHL Odds

The Stars are -125 favourites on the NHL odds with a total of 5.5 goals.

Oilers vs. Stars NHL Betting Odds

Actually, Tuesday night is the first rematch this season of the past two Western Conference Finals. In 2024, Edmonton beat Dallas in six after trailing 2-1. Back in May, the Oilers lost Game 1 in Dallas, 6-3, but then stormed back to take the next four, each by at least three goals. So you know that Tuesday’s game means a little more extra for the Stars, who also lost in the 2022 West Finals to Vegas.

No doubt these teams could meet again this May for another trip to the Stanley Cup Finals, although both are currently second-favourites to win their division: Dallas at +230 for the Central and Edmonton at +155 for the Pacific. A few key players on both sides also could meet in a potential gold medal game in the 2026 Winter Games from Italy between likely Team USA and Canada.

As of the 2024-25 regular-season set, the Stars won two of three, including the lone game in Dallas by a score of 4-1. Jason Robertson (4G, 2A) and Roope Hintz (1G, 5A) each led Dallas with six points in the series. Jake Oettinger, who might be the Team USA goaltender in the Olympics, was in net for all three and had a 3.04 GAA and .912 SV. Zach Hyman (3G, 1A) led Edmonton with four points. Connor McDavid had a goal and two helpers, and Leon Draisaitl a goal and assist. Stuart Skinner saw action in all three and had a 3.99 GAA and .841 SV.

In the past 10 regular-season meetings overall, they have split and the over-under is 7-3.

Edmonton Oilers

Perhaps the Oilers were looking ahead to this game on Monday as they visited a St. Louis team that had lost seven straight but knocked off Edmonton, 3-2, courtesy of a Pius Suter goal at 18:37 of the third. Edmonton led 2-0 early in the second via goals from Jack Roslovic (third of season) and Andrew Mangianpane (fourth). Connor McDavid assisted on each goal and reached 1,100 points career in his 726th regular-season game. That is the fourth-fastest to get there behind Wayne Gretzky (464 games), Mario Lemieux (550) and Mike Bossy (725). It was McDavid’s 202nd multi-assist game, which is the second most among active players behind Sidney Crosby (256). McDavid has assisted on each of the Oilers’ last five goals dating to their first goal against the Blackhawks on Saturday. His career-long such streak is six straight goals twice. Calvin Pickard got the start in net Monday, so it will be Stuart Skinner tonight. He has gone an unlucky 2-3-0 on the road so far despite a 2.21 GAA and .910 SV. Edmonton is 1-6 in its past seven road games.

Dallas Stars

The Stars enter off the two-game Florida Swing, and they lost both but got a point against both the Lightning and Panthers – which means at least one point in six straight overall for the team. It has been very streaky:  Two wins, four losses, three wins and now two losses. Mikko Rantanen’s fifth goal of the sent Saturday’s game against the Panthers to OT. He is now one goal shy of joining Connor McDavid as the only players from the 2015 NHL Draft class to reach 300 career. Rantanen also had a helper and leads the team with 14 points. However, Dallas is not healthy right now. Top forwards Matt Duchene (1G, 1A in four games) and Roope Hintz (1G, 7A in eight games) are out again Tuesday. This normally would be No. 1 Jake Oettinger’s spot, but he missed practice Monday for the birth of his child and will not start Tuesday. Backup Casey DeSmith started Saturday’s 4-3 shootout loss to fall to 1-1-1 with a 3.28 GAA and .873 SV in three starts this season.
