Edmonton Oilers vs. Utah Mammoth Prediction, NHL Odds
The Edmonton Oilers roll into Salt Lake City on Tuesday night for a critical late-season clash against the Utah Mammoth.
The Oilers are looking to snap a two-game skid and a boost on offence despite being without star Leon Draisaitl, who remains sidelined with a lower-body injury. Meanwhile, the Mammoth are returning home after a thrilling overtime victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night.
Three wins in four outings last week has positioned Utah comfortably into the West’s top Wild-Card spot at 80 points. Edmonton’s hanging onto third in the Pacific Division with 77 points, failing to take advantage of what Connor McDavid called a “pillow fight” as the playoff push carries on.
Puck drop at the Delta Center goes at 9:30 p.m. EDT with the Mammoth a -135 moneyline favourite on home ice and the over-under at 6.5 on the NHL odds.
Oilers vs. Mammoth NHL Betting Odds
Edmonton enters this tilt ranking sixth in the NHL in scoring and typically trending toward the over, but the absence of Leon Draisaitl has caused a shift. The under has hit in four of the Oilers’ last five games without him and Edmonton’s scored two goals combined over their last two showings. But goals seem to come in high dosages when the Oilers and Mammoth get together, with the over hitting in all of Edmonton’s last five visits to Utah.
Tuesday’s the second of three regular season meetings between these clubs, with the Oilers winning 6-3 in their first clash with Utah back on October 28. Edmonton swept the season series over Utah 3-0 last season too. The Mammoth have won just one of their last five home games but are still 19-12-3 on home ice this season overall.
Edmonton Oilers
Home losses to Florida and Tampa Bay didn’t do Edmonton any favours last week, who’s playoff odds are down to 76.7 per cent according to MoneyPuck. Saturday night’s defeat especially stung given the scoring race between Connor McDavid and Tampa’s Nikita Kucherov. Despite this slump, McDavid remains on the verge of history. He’s currently one goal shy of 400 and one assist away from 800 for his career in just 783 games played so far. McDavid is also now second in the NHL in points, conceding to Kucherov after their meeting on Saturday night.
Connor Ingram has started five straight games in net as Edmonton continues to seek a number one goalie ahead of the final stretch. The bad news is Ingram’s failed to register a save percentage above .900 in five of his last six appearances. But he’s still the better option than Tristan Jerry, who has an .855 percentage in 13 games with Edmonton.
Utah Mammoth
The Mammoth have found another gear in the past week, winning three of four to keep pace in the Western playoff race. Utah scored at least four goals in each of those wins, including two-goal outings from both Lawson Crouse and Nick Schmaltz in Sunday’s 4-3 win versus Los Angeles. Crouse is one goal away from 20 on the season, and would become the fifth Mammoth skater to hit the milestone this season.
Leading goal scorer Dylan Guenther has been hot recently with six goals in his last eight games. The Mammoth also signed 2025 fourth overall pick Caleb Desnoyers to an entry-level contract on Monday, and he could make his NHL debut against Edmonton.
Karel Vejmelka is the projected starter in net on Tuesday, and brings a 2.67 GAA and .900 save percentage into the contest.
