These teams have split two meetings, played in a home-and-home set on Nov. 16 and 18 – each team won at home. Winnipeg prevailed 5-2 and Edmonton 2-1 in a shootout.
Oilers vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds
Connor McDavid has a goal and two assists in the season series. Leon Draisaitl has two goals but is minus-2. Mikko Koskinen was in net for the loss and Stuart Skinner for the victory.
Mark Scheifele (1G, 1A), Josh Morrissey (2A), Nikolaj Ehlers (2G) and Kyle Connor (1G, 1A) each lead the Jets with two points in the series. Connor Hellebuyck started both, allowing three goals on 66 shots.
This is a makeup game of one postponed Jan. 16 and wraps up the series. The home team has won the past four meetings. The total has gone over in four of the previous five in Winnipeg.
Edmonton Oilers
Note that this is a front end of a back-to-back for Edmonton, so that surely will affect which goaltender is in net here. We think it will be Mike Smith. When he first returned from a long injury absence, Smith really struggled, but he won a third straight start Thursday in a 7-3 victory over Anaheim to improve to 5-4-1 with a 3.31 GAA and .904 SV on the season. Leon Draisaitl had two goals to take the league lead with 35. He was one of a handful of players with two points – Connor McDavid had two assists (five-game points streak). Derek Ryan was the No. 1 star with a goal and assist. However, winger Jesse Puljujarvi (28 points) left in the second period with a lower-body injury. The Oilers are 4-0 under new head coach Jay Woodcroft. They are 5-1 in their past six on the road overall.
Winnipeg Jets
Winnipeg won its second in a row Thursday, 5-3 at home vs. Seattle. Josh Morrissey’s sixth goal of the season at 13:50 was the winner. Kyle Connor added his team-leading 28th on an empty net with one second remaining and also had an assist. Andrew Copp (28 points) missed the game with an undisclosed injury and is day-to-day for now. So is fellow forward, rookie and Whitby native Cole Perfetti (seven points), who left Thursday in the third period after a big hit. Backup Eric Comrie was in net, but it should be Connor Hellebuyck (17-16-7, 2.81 GAA, .913 SV) here. The Jets are 1-5 in their past six after a win.
