The Oilers opened their current two-game road trip with a 3-2 overtime win on Tuesday night, snapping a two-game slide and lifting them two points up on second-place Vegas in the divisional standings. The Blackhawks return home after closing out a recent three-game junket with a 5-1 loss in Florida on Saturday. In addition to dropping their past two contests, the Blackhawks have also struggled on home ice, where they have lost five of their past six.

The Oilers arrive in the Windy City perched as -275 favourites on the Wednesday NHL odds and are a short -105 bet on the NHL puckline. The Blackhawks trail as lengthy +225 underdogs, and the total is set at 6.0.

Oilers vs. Blackhawks NHL Betting Odds

Tuesday night’s clash marks the third and final regular season meeting between these Western Conference rivals. The road team earned the win in their two previous matchups, capped by the Oilers’ 4-3 when they visited Chicago back on January 11. But overall, the Oilers have dominated in recent head-to-head action, claiming victory in seven of eight meetings with the Blackhawks since the start of the 2022/2023 NHL campaign.

One of the hottest teams in the NHL entering 2025, the Oilers have produced uneven results of late, winning just four of their past eight contests. However, they remain a force on the road, winning six of eight since New Year’s Day while limiting opponents to three or fewer goals seven times over that stretch. Things have not gone so well for the Blackhawks, who have posted wins in just four of their past 19 overall, dumping the squad into last place in the Central Division basement and just one point up on San Jose in the race for last place overall. Chicago has seen nine of their 15 recent defeats come by multi-goal margins and now rank 30th overall with a team goals against average of 3.42 and 31st overall with just 2.58 goals per game.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers have managed to pick up at least a point in five of their past six outings but goals have come at a premium of late, with Edmonton shooters potting just eight total goals during the team’s 1-1-1 run. After picking up just one total over the previous two contests, Connor McDavid did all the heavy lifting in Tuesday’s win over the Blues, scoring once and adding two helpers. However, McDavid has struggled to produce in the club’s first two dates with Chicago this season, picking up just one assist while recording just four total shots on goals.

With the Oilers now playing their second game in as many nights, Calvin Pickard is expected to get the start in net. The 32-year-old journeyman has been pillar of strength for the club, compiling a 2.37 goals against average while earning the win in five straight starts including a 19-save performance in the Oilers’ 4-3 win in Chicago last month.

Chicago Blackhawks

With the exception of last week’s 4-1 win over Tampa Bay, in which they mustered just 21 shots on goals, the Black hawks have struggled to generate offence, potting just nine total goals over their past four games overall while allowing four goals per game over their past six home dates. However, leading scorer Connor Bedard has managed to remain productive, racking up 19 total points while cracking the scoresheet in 15 of his past 18 appearances.

However, things have not gone so well for veteran centre Teuvo Teravainen, who trails only Bedard in team scoring but has mustered just one goal and no helpers over the past six games and scored just once in his past 13 home appearances.
