NHL Puck Luck: Monday's best hockey odds and picks
Tampa Bay Lightning at Boston Bruins (-170, 5)
The Bruins are coming off a hard-fought win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday night in a rematch of last year’s epic seven-game series win. Patrice Bergeron was the difference again that time, scoring the game’s last two goals in a 3-1 victory.
Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is rolling on the back of Steven Stamkos, who heads into this one tied for the NHL lead with 23 points and 13 goals. He has scored in six straight games and will be tough to keep in check again in this one. Stamkos is also set at +108 to score anytime and at +300 to score the game’s first goal.
That said, Boston’s grinding style will be tough for Tampa Bay to handle and this is a bit of a weird one with the 1 p.m. start on a Monday afternoon. Special teams may be the deciding factor but even though Tampa Bay hasn’t scored a power play goal in four games, it’s hard not to pull the trigger with the Bolts at this price (+145).
The Lightning are 5-2 on the road this season and will be looking to avenge a 5-0 loss at home to Boston earlier this season.
Pick: Tampa Bay
