Brady Tkachuk

Tkachuk, who has three assists in three games, is believed to be dealing with a hand/wrist injury and the team is reportedly still evaluating whether or not surgery will be required.

The 26-year-old winger suffered the injury on Monday when he was cross checked in the first period against Nashville.

It’s a big loss for the Senators as Tkachuk led the team with 29 goals last season. It was Tkachuk’s fourth straight season with at least 29 goals.

This is Tkachuk’s eighth season in Ottawa after being drafted by the team fourth overall in 2018. He was named the 10th captain in franchise history in November of the 2021-22 season.

Ottawa Senators

The Tkachuk injury is the latest blow to the Senators, who are looking to build on last year’s success after ending a seven-year playoff drought. Ottawa opened the season with a win in Tampa Bay, but they’ve now dropped back-to-back games in Florida (6-2) and at home against Nashville.

Oddsmakers are counting on the Sens to stay afloat in the competitive Atlantic Division as they are -175 to make the playoffs and +140 to miss out. They have the fourth-shortest odds to win the Atlantic at +850 and they are +3300 long shots to win the Stanley Cup.

Ottawa is back in action on Wednesday when they hit the road to face the winless Buffalo Sabres.
