Calgary Flames

October 11November 2
Record0-0-02-7-1
Stanley Cup Odds+3000+3500
Pacific Division Odds+650+2000

If Calgary thought getting rid of head coach Darryl Sutter in the off-season would jumpstart this team to a better record, they were sorely mistaken. The Flames are riding an ugly six-game losing streak and sit second-last in the entire NHL. In fact, the only team with a worse record than the Flames is the winless San Jose Sharks, a team on pace to have one of the worst seasons in NHL history. You an still make money betting on Flames games, just take whoever they’re playing.

Edmonton Oilers

October 11November 2
Record0-0-02-5-1
Stanley Cup Odds+900+1100
Pacific Division Odds+185+500

It’s been a mess for the Oilers since day one this year. After opening the season with an embarrassing 8-1 loss against the Canucks, Edmonton has managed to win just two games. Goaltending has been a serious concern as neither Jack Campbell (1-3-0, 4.35 GAA, .878 SV) or Stuart Skinner (1-2-1, 3.51 GAA, .863 SV) appear capable of being the go-to guy in net. Betting on the Oilers should be all about Connor McDavid (2G, 7A) and Leon Draisaitl (4G, 9A) props.

Montreal Canadiens

October 11November 2
Record0-0-05-2-2
Stanley Cup Odds+12,500+25,000
Atlantic Division Odds+10,000+17,5000

Montreal is quietly playing well-above expectations. The Habs were expected to grow this year, but few people expected them to sit third in the Atlantic Division after the first month of the season. They’re doing it by committee right now as five different players have scored at least three goals. Jump on the Canadiens while you can because oddsmakers are bound to start giving Montreal more respect in the game lines.

Ottawa Senators

October 11November 2
Record0-0-04-4-0
Stanley Cup Odds+3300+4000
Atlantic Division Odds+1000+1300

The fever pitch of expectation surrounding Ottawa and their new owner Michael Andlauer has already been dashed pretty spectacularly. First, they couldn’t sign Shane Pinto to a contract then lost him for half a season anyway due to suspension, they were docked a first-round draft pick because of a 2021 invalidated trade and GM Pierre Dorion was booted out the door after just eight games. Maybe we were all too quick to jump on the Sens bandwagon.

Toronto Maple Leafs

October 11November 2
Record0-0-05-3-1
Stanley Cup Odds+800+1000
Atlantic Division Odds+190+200

There’s clearly no reason to panic in Toronto, but a dip in their Stanley Cup and Atlantic Division betting odds should be a warning for bettors to be cautious when taking the Leafs. The big boys are getting it done as William Nylander is playing like he’s in a contract year (and he is) and Auston Matthews sits near the top of the NHL with seven goals. With free agent additions Max Domi and Tyler Bertuzzi off to slow starts, the question is can Toronto get any depth scoring? Your best value on the Leafs right now is Matthews to win the Rocket Richard Trophy at +165.

Vancouver Canucks

October 11November 2
Record0-0-06-2-1
Stanley Cup Odds+5000+5000
Pacific Division Odds+1600+1000

Vancouver has been the biggest surprise of the Canadian teams as they sit second in the Pacific Division. Elias Pettersson is off to a blistering start and ranks second in the NHL with 16 points (5G, 11A) while new captain Quinn Hughes (3G, 8A) is tied with Colorado’s Cale Makar and New York’s Adam Fox for most points among defencemen. With an 8-1 record against the spread, the Canucks are an extremely attractive single-game betting option. There’s also great value for Hughes winning the Norris Trophy (+500) and Pettersson to win the Hart Trophy (+3000).

Winnipeg Jets

October 11November 2
Record0-0-04-3-2
Stanley Cup Odds+4000+3300
Central Division Odds+850+900

The Jets have seen the biggest jump in Stanley Cup odds among Canadian teams, going from +4000 to +3300. The big change for Winnipeg early in the season has been how competitive the team has been every game. They have a winning record, sit third in the Central Division and only one of their losses has come by more than two goals. Bettors should keep an eye on the Jets, they could continue to surprise teams.
