Winnipeg Jets vs. Ottawa Senators Prediction, NHL Odds
The Winnipeg Jets look like they’re going to join the Ottawa Senators and miss the playoffs this year. Winnipeg has stayed competitive throughout the season but a four-game losing streak has sunk them in the standings. As for the Senators, they never really found themselves or had a shot at the postseason. They had a nice three-game winning streak a few days ago but two quick losses have evened them out.
Jets vs. Senators NHL Betting Odds
The Jets may be on a losing streak right now but they have won six out of their last seven games when coming into the matchup as the listed road favorite. They are also 7-3 in their last 10 against teams with a losing overall record on the season. However, they have lost four of their past five against teams from the Atlantic Division.
Ottawa is undefeated in their past four games when going up against a team with a losing record on the year. Although, they are just 4-11 in their recent games at home. It should also be noted, the underdog has won four out of the past five contests between the Senators and the Jets.
Winnipeg Jets
For some reason, the Jets offense has completely fallen off the rails to end this season. Winnipeg is barely scoring the puck much as of late. In their last four games combined, they have scored nine goals in total, compared to the 18 that they have given up in that same span. They are now 18th in the league in goals scored per game at 3.01 a contest, so you can see how much of a power outage they’ve experienced recently.
Kyle Connor can be thanked for the majority of their scoring with 82 points on the season. If the Jets want to continue to cling to a possible playoff spot, this offense can no longer wait around to get going. This is a make-or-break game for Winnipeg. They’re seven points out of a playoff spot with 10 games to go. They can’t afford to blow points in spots like this.
Ottawa Senators
Not only is this going to be the second half of a back-to-back situation for Ottawa, but they could be trusting a young goaltender in the net. Mads Sogaard was taken in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft. He has only started in one game this season and held up a .931 save percentage by saving 27 out of 29 shots on the net. The goaltender will need to put forth another brilliant performance if he wants to help Ottawa win this game. The team specifically wanted him to start at home in front of the home fans.
The bigger issue is that this team is just bad overall. Even with a recent three-game winning streak, they’ve still lost nine of their last 14. They’re also 13-20-3 at home this season, so they don’t have much of an advantage there.
