Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues Game 6 Prediction, Odds
The Jets are up 3-2 in the series and are short -118 favourites on the NHL odds with a total of 5.5 goals.
Jets vs. Blues NHL Playoff Betting Odds
It’s a good thing this series went six games or else there would have been no other Stanley Cup playoff action Friday around the NHL. A potential Game 7 would be back in Winnipeg on Sunday. The home team is unbeaten in the series following the Jets’ 5-3 victory in Game 5 on Wednesday.
On the updated series line, Winnipeg is -500 (was -185 entering Game 5) and St. Louis +375 (was +150). The Jets are 1-0 all-time in a best-of-seven series when leading 3-2. They are 0-2 all-time in Game 6s, losing once at home and away. The Blues are 0-1 all-time when trailing 3-2 in a series. They are 17-24 in Game 6s and 10-10 at home. There has not been an overtime game yet (only one game decided by a single goal) and that there will be at least one is +200. I still think that’s decent value.
Winnipeg is now +450 to win the Western Conference and St. Louis +2500. That a Central Division team wins the West is -125 with Pacific at -102. For the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, the Jets have two of the favourites in Kyle Connor (+1600) and Connor Hellebuyck (+1800). Connor is the +140 anytime goalscoring favorite for Game 6 and +800 leader for the game’s first goal – he has had that in the past two games.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets’ 5-3 win on Wednesday may have come at a huge cost as captain and regular-season second-leading scorer Mark Scheifele is in question the rest of the series. The first-line centre left with 13:51 in the first period after he was checked Blues captain Brayden Schenn as it appeared that Schenn’s forearms connected with the top half of Scheifele’s chest. Schenn was assessed a two-minute minor penalty for interference and another two-minute minor for roughing, but the Jets didn’t score on the four-minute power play. Too early to say if Scheifele will be able to go Friday as the team didn’t practice Thursday but flew to St. Louis. He has two goals and four assists in the series, averaging 17:05 of ice time. Kyle Connor was the No. 1 star in Game 5 with a goal and two assists, his fourth career playoff game with at least three points. That tied Blake Wheeler for the most in Jets/Thrashers history. Scheifele has three such games. Forward Gabriel Vilardi returned from a long injury absence on Wednesday and was plus-one with two shots in 18:23. Connor Hellebuyck was a bit shaky again, allowing three goals on 19 shots. The sure-fire Vezina winner has now allowed at least three goals in four of five games in the series despite facing no more than 25 shots in any appearance.
St. Louis Blues
Wednesday’s defeat was the Blues’ sixth straight road loss dating to the regular season, but they have won a team-record 14 consecutive home games – the last loss was Feb. 22 in a shootout vs. Winnipeg. In Wednesday’s loss, Nathan Walker had two goals and Jimmy Snuggerud the other. Veteran blueliner Cam Fowler had an assist and has a team-leading nine points in the series. That total has tied Al MacInnis (1999) and Joe Micheletti (1981) for the most ever in a series by a Blues defenceman. Another blueliner, Tyler Tucker, missed the game with an injury and is day-to-day. Jordan Binnington has started each game in net and undoubtedly will again Friday. The Richmond Hill native allowed just three total goals in Games 3-4 in St. Louis. This is the first postseason series where the home team earned wins in each of the first five games since the 2022 second round between the Rangers and Hurricanes where the home team won the first six.
