Jarome Iginla Scores Game Winner in 3-2 Victory Over St. Louis Blues
The Calgary Flames managed to take down the St. Louis Blues Sunday in a 3-2 victory with their captain Jarome Iginla scoring his 88th game-winner for the franchise.
St. Louis forward Andy McDonald gave props to Iginla for sticking with the play when everyone else thought it was over.
“I think everybody thought the play was dead, but it just shows you he’s a great player in this league,” McDonald told reporters. “That’s why. He doesn’t give up on the play and he’s able to find the puck and make a great play. We didn’t have answer for him.”
But with the NHL’s April 3 trade deadline approaching fast, there are just four games (only two at home; against Colorado on Wednesday and Columbus on Friday) remaining, is this Iginla’s last time he will see his name on the Flames’ scoreboard?
Reportedly, Iginla has given the Flames a shortlist of teams he would be willing to be traded to – the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, Los Angeles Kings, and the Boston Bruins.
After Sunday’s game Iginla tried to handle some of the rumours.
“There is a lot of speculation about our team and me individually,” Iginla told reporters. “Now with an important win for our team, it will work itself out in whatever it is… a week away. I don’t want to contribute to it.”
What are your thoughts, do you think this was Ignila’s last game as a Calgary Flame?
