Hurricanes vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds
Both of these squads can fill the net; the Oilers are fourth in the league averaging 3.5 goals per game and the Hurricanes are ninth, averaging 3.2 goals a game. This will be their first of two meetings this season, but in their past six head-to-heads, the Over is 5-1. 70 percent of the public has taken the Over tonight.
In 24 games the ‘Canes have played the Under 14 times, including five of their past six contests. They are allowing the second-fewest goals against in the league with a 2.08 average. On their current three-game win streak, Carolina has covered the spread while allowing only 1.67 goals against.
The Oilers’ offence has been slowing down recently, averaging only 1.67 goals per game in their past three. The struggle had them playing the Under and brought their record to 14-10 to the Over so far. They have also taken an L against the spread four games in a row.
Carolina Hurricanes
Sebastian Aho’s overtime winner powered the Hurricanes 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Thursday, extending their win streak to three games. Goalie Frederik Andersen kept his team in the game stopping 26 of 27 shots faced, to secure his 13th win of the year.
The ‘Canes got off on the right foot to start the month, going 3-1 so far in December. Aho has been a huge contributor picking up nine points since the calendar turned.
After missing the last game due to illness, defenceman Ethan Bear will be back in the lineup to face his old team for the first time since being traded in the off-season.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers lost their fourth game in a row Thursday night, this time 3-2 at the hands of the Boston Bruins. Leon Draisaitl scored both goals on the powerplay to tie the game before the Bruins would rally back in the third. Draisaitl’s pair of goals snapped a season-high two-game pointless skid, keeping him tied with teammate Connor McDavid for the league lead at 45 points.
After being presented with silver shin pads for blocking the most shots in NHL history, defenceman Kris Russell was placed on the Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury. Veterans Duncan Keith and Mike Smith will also miss tonight’s contest but could return to the lineup Tuesday.
