Vegas Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars Game 4 Prediction, NHL Odds
Bolstered by another sensational performance by goaltender Adin Hill, the Golden Knights rolled to a 4-0 win in Dallas on Tuesday, and now enjoy a comfortable 3-0 lead in the series. The Dallas Stars will not have veteran leader Jamie Benn in the lineup as they try to extend the series. The former Art Ross Trophy was handed a two-game suspension after laying a vicious crosscheck on Knights’ forward Mark Stone early in Game 3, which proved to be the turning point in that contest.
Now facing elimination, the Stars look to Game 4 as slim -115 favourites on the NHL odds. The Golden Knights are pegged as a -105 bet in their bid to record their first series sweep in five years while the total is pegged at 5.5.
Golden Knights vs. Stars NHL Betting Odds
With Wednesday’s victory, the Golden Knights put the brakes on a dismal 1-4 straight up run in their previous five visits to Dallas, and are now poised to avenge their loss to the Stars in the 2020 Western Conference Final. The UNDER paid out again in Game 3, extending a low-scoring trend that has seen the UNDER go 11-2-1 over their past 14 overall meetings. Overall, the Stars have scored more than three goals just twice in 16 clashes with Vegas, and just once in 11 all-time matchups in Dallas.
Vegas Golden Knights
Goaltending was expected to be a major concern for the Golden Knights entering the postseason. Instead, it has emerged as the big story for this club as they look to punch their ticket back to the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday night. Adin Hill enjoyed arguably the finest hour of his hockey career in Game 3, turning aside all 34 shots he faced including a 14-shot barrage in the final frame to seal the win. The 27-year-old has now stopped 93 of 98 total shots faced in the series, and has surrendered just 10 total goals while backstopping Vegas to five straight wins.
However, offensive production remains a concern for the Knights, who mustered just 16 shots on goal in Game 3, and have now been outshot in six of eight contests. Ivan Barbashev maintained his recent torrid pace with a goal and two assists on Tuesday, and has noJw racked up seven points over his past six appearances.
Dallas Stars
The Stars wasted no time digging a hole for themselves in Game 3, and will need their biggest stars to step up at both ends of the ice if they are to avoid elimination on Thursday night. Benn’s assault on Stone provided the Golden Knights with a five-minute power play, which they capitalized on to take a 2-0 lead, while goaltender Jake Oettinger last just over seven minutes before getting the hook after allowing two goals on just five shots.
Dallas is expected to return to Oettinger in Game 4, but the 24-year-old needs to show dramatic improvement. Oettinger has now allowed 10 goals on just 68 total shots so far in the series, with five of those goals coming in the third period and overtime of games 1 and 2.
Up front, Roope Hintz and Joe Pavelski have combined to score just one total goal in this series. And while Jason Robertson has potted a pair of goals, he has struggled to fins the target while compiling just five shots on goal in the series and two or fewer shots in each of his past six games.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Golden Knights vs. Stars?
Thursday’s contest features an intriguing matchup between a spotty Vegas offence and a Stars goaltender enduring an uncharacteristic slump. Look for the Stars to set the tone early, and for Oettinger to salvage some pride with a rebound performance as Dallas extends the series.
