The Flyers have not given up a goal in their past two games, while the Penguins return home from a four game road trip after being shut out by the Islanders on Sunday.

Flyers vs. Penguins 3/2/21 Betting Analysis

These rivals haven’t played each other since back-to-back games in January when the Flyers took both games at home, outscoring the Penguins 11-5. The bettors are very split on this one with only 53% in favour of Philadelphia.

The total tonight is set at 6 and in their two meetings so far this season they have hit the over in both. Sports Interaction respondents expect a high-scoring game tonight again, as most of them have taken the over. Both of Philly’s goalies put up a shutout in back-to-back games against Buffalo on Saturday and Sunday and they have not given up more than four goals since the loss to Boston on Lake Tahoe.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers have a busy month ahead of them in March with 17 games scheduled after only playing eight games in February due to COVID protocol. The month of February saw Sean Couturier return to the lineup; the reigning Selke trophy winner has not only been playing solid defensively but has put up at least a point in every game, scoring five times and putting up 10 points in six games since his comeback.

Couturier, alongside Joel Farabee and James Van Riemsdyk, has been carrying the Flyers so far this year. Travis Konecny will be a gametime decision for Tuesday. He has been out since February 7th due to COVID protocol and if he returns, Philadelphia would be playing with their full roster for the first time since their first game.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins went two and two on their recent four game road trip, with both their wins coming in overtime. Coach Mike Sullivan can thank defenceman Kris Letang’s exceptional play for the games they did win. In the past five games the 33-year-old recorded seven points, as well as scoring twice and getting the overtime winner against the Islanders in Saturday night’s comeback win.

Captain Sidney Crosby is always ready to go against the Flyers; in 72 career games Crosby has scored 107 points, including two goals in two games against them this year. The three-game set against Philly is huge for the Penguins as they trail them by two points in the standings. Philadelphia has also played two fewer games.
