Philadelphia Flyers vs. Chicago Blackhawks Prediction, NHL Odds
Somewhat perplexing that the NHL scheduled just one game to kick off the final week of the 2021-22 regular season, although the rest of the week is very busy ahead of the final day on Friday – well, it was supposed to be the final day Friday, but there’s a meaningless rescheduled game between the Kraken and Jets on Sunday from Winnipeg.
Flyers vs. Blackhawks NHL Betting Odds
The Flyers and Blackhawks are in different conferences so they play just twice. Philadelphia probably hasn’t swept the season series against many teams in this hugely disappointing campaign but can do so here thanks to a 4-3 home win over Chicago on March 5. Cam Atkinson had two goals and an assist, and Joel Farabee had three assists for Philly, which has won 16 straight home regular-season games in the series. Martin Jones was in net then for the Flyers and Kevin Lankinen for Chicago.
Both teams are currently led by interim coaches and no word on either side if Derek King (Chicago) or Mike Yeo (Philadelphia) will get the full-time job. The favourite is 7-2 in the past nine meetings.
Philadelphia Flyers
Second of a back-to-back for the Flyers as they upset the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 on Sunday. Noah Cates had two goals and an assist in the best game of his young career. The rookie only debuted in late March. Morgan Frost (fifth of season) and Travis Konecny (16th) also scored. Martin Jones made 37 saves, but it likely will be 25-year-old Felix Sandstrom making his fourth career NHL start Monday. He’s 0-2-1 with a 3.29 GAA and .915 SV. Philly has ruled out several of its top players for the season due to injury, among them second-leading scorer Cam Atkinson (23G, 27A). Konency leads the team with 51 points. Philadelphia is 6-16 in its past 22 vs. teams with a losing record.
Chicago Blackhawks
Chicago comes off a 4-1 loss in San Jose on Saturday. Tyler Johnson had the lone goal, his third of the season. He was one of the team’s top off-season pickups from Tampa Bay but has been limited to 23 games due to injury. Kevin Lankinen surrendered four goals on 19 shots to fall to 6-15-6 with a 3.62 GAA and .887 SV. He should start again Monday. The Hawks simply don’t have good goaltending after dealing Marc-Andre Fleury to Minnesota at the trade deadline. Centre Kirby Dach (9G, 17A) is in question with a shoulder injury. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 draft hasn’t played since April 14. Patrick Kane leads the team with 91 points and Alex DeBrincat does in goals with 40. Chicago is 2-5 in its past seven as a home favourite.
