Calgary Flames vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction, NHL Odds
It has been an extremely trying time for these teams, as they are at the bottom of their respective Western Conference divisions. Securing a win here could be a step in the right direction, but they both have work to do to build relevance this year.
This matchup is a pretty equal opportunity for both to win this game, but how will it play out? Both have obviously been inconsistent this season, and we are here to provide some insight with our Flames vs. Blues preview and prediction.
Flames vs. Blues NHL Betting Odds
The Flames and Blues have met once this season, where the Blues won 4-2 on the road. In their last three seasons of meetings, the Blues have absolutely dominated, going 8-1-0 since 2022.
In terms of the NHL betting odds, both teams have a losing record ATS (against the spread); the Flames are 8-9 ATS, while the Blues are far worse at 6-10. As for the game totals for Calgary, the Over has hit in nine games and the Under has hit in six, with two pushes. St. Louis is 10-6 to the Over.
Calgary Flames
We knew it would be a long season for the Calgary Flames (4-11-2), as this is a rebuilding franchise. However, even with low expectations, they had a very rough start to the season, going 1-7-1. Since then, they have gathered a record of 3-4-1, with the young guys showing a more competitive attitude.
They have lost two straight games and have not scored a single goal in those contests. Head coach Ryan Huska has no reason not to be hard on his players, even with minimal expectations. He will have to hope the message has gotten through, as two straight shutouts are unacceptable.
Eventually, this team will likely begin to ship off assets like Nazem Kadri and Rasmus Andersson, but while they remain on the team. You cannot expect them to lose every game, especially against other weaker teams. I do expect a strong effort here, but will it be enough?
St. Louis Blues
With how poor a start it has been for the St. Louis Blues (5-8-3), it could really change the trajectory of this team. They weren’t expected to be a Stanley Cup contender, but no one could’ve guessed they’d be near the bottom of the entire NHL. The morale and momentum are quite low in St. Louis.
Blues star forward Jordan Kyrou was just healthy scratched against the Buffalo Sabres, which was a major decision. However, this sends a message to the entire team that nobody is safe if lackluster play is evident. The team has responded with a 1-0-1 record since that scratching, showing more life in their play. It will be interesting to see if they can keep this going against the Flames or if the Blues are truly unmotivated.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Flames vs. Blues?
Both teams urgently need a win, and my pick is with the St. Louis Blues. St. Louis has dominated Calgary for years and has already secured a multi-goal win over them this year. They are on home ice, and they’re showing signs of life in their latest two games. The Blues have more skilled players, and I believe they are deeper.
Roster differences should be on display here, and for these Flames vs. Blues predictions, I expect a 4-3 finish for the St. Louis Blues.
