The Canucks have not won back-to-back games since mid-November, but are still sitting in second place in the Pacific Division. While struggling, other teams have started to catch up. It is a matter of time before they are surpassed.

Injuries to their star players have haunted the Devils so far this season as they are struggling to hold a winning record after 22 games.

Puck drop from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver is set for 10:00 PM EST. Keep up to date on our Moneyline, Puckline and Over/Under for Tuesday night’s matchup on our NHL odds.

Devils vs. Canucks NHL Betting Odds

Over the past two seasons, the Devils and Canucks have faced off four times, all of which have been insanely high-scoring playing the OVER in each game. Whichever team was listed as the favourite to win has won each of those four meetings as well. Looking back a bit further, the Devils have dominated this head-to-head, beating the Canucks nine out of 10 times.

New Jersey’s struggles this season have resulted in a 5-17 record against the spread, including going 2-8 ATS covering most recently four games ago. Each of their past four games have played the OVER, bringing their record on the OVER/UNDER to 17-4. The offence has not been holding the Devils back this season, clicking at 3.6 goals per game, good for fifth in the league. It has been their goals-against average (3.36 per game) that is leaving them in seventh place in the Metropolitan Division.

The Canucks were listed as the underdog in their most recent game visiting the Calgary Flames, helping them cover the spread and boosting the record to 17-8 ATS. Struggling over the past 10 games, had the Canucks covering just four times in that stretch. Vancouver’s offence is still their most dangerous aspect, scoring 3.8 goals per game, helping them hit the over in 15 of their 25 games this season.

New Jersey Devils

After a four-game win streak, tying their season-high, the Devils hosted the San Jose Sharks on Saturday Night, the only team in the league that has not won a road game. What was expected to be a walk in the park for New Jersey would be a steep hill to climb as they fell 6-3 to the worst team in the NHL.

The Sharks struck first, scoring just 2:15 into the game, before Dawson Mercer (6) notched a powerplay goal to tie it at one at the end of the first. The Devils’ powerplay is a league-best 36 percent and scored in the past four.

Going into the third down 3-1, Jack Hughes (9) and Ondrej Palat (3) got the Devils back into it, but San Jose got three more in the final frame, resulting in a 6-3 victory.

Despite playing back-to-back nights, Lindy Ruff went with goalie Akira Schmid in both contests and it did not pay dividends as the tender would allow five goals on 17 shots.

With Dougie Hamilton on the IR after pectoral surgery, top prospect Simon Nemec took his spot on the blue line. He showed up as advertised picking up a pair of assists in his debut.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks got back in the win column Saturday Night, in Calgary with a 4-3 over the Flames. Quinn Hughes (9) opened the scoring two minutes into the contest, followed by Sam Lafferty (6) six minutes later. They would give up a powerplay goal before the end of the first cutting their lead in half. Ilya Mikeheyev (8) scored the lone goal of the second period, continuing his solid start to his second season in Vancouver (14 pts) putting them back in front by two.

The Flames did not go away in the third, scoring late in the period allowing them to pull the goalie. Elias Petterson took full advantage throwing his 10th of the season into the yawning cage. The penalty kill would allow another goal in the final minute bringing it to the 4-3 final.

Playing shorthanded has been a struggle for the ‘Nucks season who are killing only 75 percent of penalties. They have the lowest-ranked penalty kill of any team currently sitting in a playoff spot. They have been scored on with a man down in the past four games.
