Arizona Coyotes vs. Montreal Canadiens Prediction, NHL Odds
Both teams are coming from big upset wins in their Monday night matchups.
Tonight’s game is a pick ‘em with the Canadiens being a slight favourite to win tonight sitting at -165 on the Moneyline with a total of 6.5 on the NHL odds.
Coyotes vs. Canadiens NHL Betting Odds
The Coyotes swept took both games in last year’s season series and have beaten Montreal three games in a row. Their two most recent meetings hit the Over and Arizona also went 2-0 against the spread.
Arizona is off to a 1-2 start after grabbing their first win of the season Monday night in a 4-2 upset win over the Maple Leafs. The win was their first game of the season to play the Under as their offence is clicking at three goals a game pace.
The Canadiens have yet to hit the Over with four games under their belt this season posting a 0-3-1 record ATS. They have been able to find a new gear on home ice early in the year going 2-0 at the Bell Centre, winning both games by one late goal. Tonight, Montreal will be the favourite for the first time this season.
Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes have had tremendous success playing in Toronto beating the Leafs in every game they have played as the road team for the past 20 years. Arizona continued the trend Monday night beating them 4-2 for their first win this season.
Nick Ritchie opened the scoring on the powerplay versus his old squad for his team-leading third goal of the season, all of which have been scored on the powerplay.
Defenceman Shayne Gostisbehere’s second goal of the season broke a 2-2 tie with less than two minutes left in regulation to give the Yotes the win.
Gostisbehere is off to a flying start in his second season with Arizona, leading the team in points (5) and shots on goal (9) through the season’s first three games.
The Coyotes are halfway through their long season-opening road trip, with three games left to play before their first game at Arizona State University on October 28th.
Montreal Canadiens
Kirby Dach’s first goal in a Canadiens uniform came in overtime to cap off a Canadiens 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night. Captain Nick Suzuki continued to impress picking up a goal and an assist, while his sidekick Cole Caufield tied the game late with his third goal in four games.
Rookie defenceman Kaiden Guhle has been amazing defensively through his first four NHL games, playing over 20 minutes a night against the other team’s top lines. He also managed to pick up the first two points of his career Monday.
Goaltender Jake Allen missed the game versus Pittsburgh for the birth of his child, giving Sam Montembeault his second start in a row. Allen should return to the goal tonight for Montreal.
The Canadiens have been able to put in incredible efforts in front of their home crowd so far going 2-0 in Montreal and dramatically winning both games.
