The Dallas Stars have hit the skids at the worst possible time; fortunately, Sunday’s encounter comes against a team that hasn’t exactly been lighting the world on fire. The Stars carry a seven-game losing skid into Sunday’s home game against the Vancouver Canucks, who limp to the finish line with losses in 19 of their past 24 games.
Canucks vs Stars Betting Analysis
The Stars are a huge favourite given the Canucks’ late-season doldrums, but they haven’t done much to instil bettor confidence of late. In addition to losing a season-high seven straight, Dallas has just one win in its last 11 games played on one day of rest. But Vancouver has just one win in its last seven games against Central Division opponents, and its one-sided victory over the Stars last time out halted a seven-game losing streak in games played in Dallas.
On the totals front, both teams have skewed heavily toward the under in recent weeks. The Canucks have gone below the number in seven of their previous eight road games, and are 2-5 O/U in their previous seven contests overall. The Stars have converted the under in each of their past four home games and are 1-4 O/U in their last five games vs. Western Conference foes. The teams have also gone under in 17 of their last 28 meetings in Dallas.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks remain in the mix for the worst record in the league, but they just might have the easiest schedule of any team in the bottom-5. After facing the reeling Stars, Vancouver will play five of its final six games at Rogers Arena – and will face the Edmonton Oilers and Arizona Coyotes three times in that span. The Canucks are also done with back-to-backs, having at least one day of rest between each of their final seven games of the season.
Dallas Stars
The Stars will need much better goaltending than it has received during its seven-game skid if they have any hope of climbing back into the Western Conference playoff picture. Dallas has surrendered a whopping 26 goals over that stretch and have been particularly susceptible while shorthanded, allowing eight power-play goals during the streak. Dallas will play three of its next four games at home before closing out the sked with a three-game road trip.
