Canadiens vs. Senators Betting Analysis
Over 90 per cent of Sports Interaction bettors are favouring the Habs for this rematch and history is on their side. Montreal has won 12 of their last 16 games against the Sens, including five of their last six games in Ottawa.
The Habs have seemed more than comfortable on the road, this season. Away from the Bell Centre, Montreal is 4-0-2. On the road the Habs are 5-1 against the spread and have hit the Over in four of six games.
It’s been a nightmare start to the season for Ottawa, but they have been slightly better at home. The Sens are 3-8 ATS overall, but they’ve covered in two of four home games. Ottawa has also hit the Over in two of four homes games.
Montreal Canadiens
Montreal was shocked by the last place Senators on Thursday, but you can expect that to be a wakeup call for the Habs. Ironically, the only Montreal lines that wasn’t clicking during the team’s hot start to the season, was the only positive in Thursday’s loss. The Phillip Danault-Josh Anderson-Brendan Gallagher line had their best game of the year. Danault picked up assists on both Gallagher and Anderson’s goals. Anderson’s late goal was Montreal’s seventh shorthanded goal of the season, the most in the NHL. Carey Price allowed three goals on 22 shots. The veteran goalie is 4-1-2 on the season with a 2.81 goals against average and .899 save percentage.
Ottawa Senators
The Sens finally ended a nine game losing streak on Thursday, so you can bet they’ll be looking to take advantage of the Habs again, on Saturday. Tim Stutzle had a breakout game, finishing with a goal and two assists. He is just the third Senators player to score a goal in three straight games as a teenager. Stutzle now leads Ottawa in goals (4) and his six points are one off the team lead. We may have also seen a breakout performance from Matt Murray. Murray stopped 36 of 38 shots to pick up his second win of the season, but he has struggled to start the year. The two-time Stanley Cup winner has posted a 4.40 GAA and .866 SV in eight games. Getting outshot 38-22 and somehow pulling out the victory isn’t a sustainable way to win games. Murray is going to need to play like he did on Thursday and steal a few games throughout the year if the Sens want to avoid another embarrassing nine game losing streak.
