Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Ottawa Senators Prediction, NHL Odds
The Blue Jackets are looking for their third straight win, as they battle for what is left of their playoff hopes, 14 points out of the Wildcard.
The Senators are -142 favourites to win on the NHL odds with a total of 6.5.
Blue Jackets vs. Senators NHL Betting Odds
Anton Forsberg stood on his head stopping 35 of 36 shots in a 2-1 Senators win to open the season series with the Blue Jackets. Artem Zub opened the scoring and Tim Stutzle finished it off with the game-winner, while hometown boy Sean Kuraly scored for Columbus.
The Jackets have dominated in their past head-to-heads boasting a 7-2-1 record versus Ottawa dating back to 2017. Six of those games played the Over and each team covered the spread five times. 78 percent of the betting public is taking Columbus to win tonight and 61 percent are betting over the total of 6.5. They wrap up the season series with the third and final meeting on April 22nd.
Columbus has covered the spread more than any other team in the Eastern Conference. Their five covers in the past six games have brought them to 35-25 ATS on the year.
The Sens’ past three games have all played the Over and they failed to cover the spread even once. High-scoring games are not typical for Ottawa, their 23-35 record on the Over/Under would agree.
Columbus Blue Jackets
The Jackets have strung together back-to-back wins for the first time in a month with their 6-4 upset win over the Golden Knights on Sunday. The NHL’s youngest player, Cole Sillinger notched his first career hat trick to lead the way for Columbus. The 18-year-old became the 14th youngest in NHL history to snipe three in a game.
Sillinger is part of the Jackets’ newest line combo, put in between Max Domi and Oliver Bjorkstrand. They went off with a combined four goals and five assists on Sunday.
The playoffs are almost out of the picture for the Jackets, as they trail the final wildcard spot by 14 points, with 22 games to go.
Ottawa Senators
The Senators lost their second in a row on Monday 5-3 to Arizona. They were left feeling bitter after outshooting Arizona 43-15, a dominant performance that goes unrewarded. Josh Norris had a pair of goals and Brady Tkachuk had a pair of assists.
Tkachuk is leading the team with 44 points (20G, 24A) through 56 games. Norris pushed his goal total to a team-leading 24 snipes, he’s red hot with five goals in his last four games.
A win tonight would tie them with Buffalo for sixth in the Atlantic Division. They wrap up their five-game homestand on Thursday, when they host the Philadelphia Flyers.
