Tyler Myers
Dallas is sending a 2027 second-round draft pick and a 2029 fourth-round pick back to the Canucks, who will retain 50 per cent of Myers $3 million cap hit through this season and next.
Myers hasn’t played since last Wednesday when Vancouver originally scratched him for roster management decisions as they asked him to consider a trade to the Detroit Red Wings. The 36-year-old has a full no-move clause and controls his destination in trade talks.
Myers, who averages the third-highest time on ice per game for the Canucks (20:13), has one goal and eight points in 57 games this season. He is in his seventh season with Vancouver after joining the team as a free agent in 2019.
Top heavy Central Division
The addition of Myers to the Stars only makes the Central Division more dangerous. Entering Wednesday, Dallas has the second-most points in the NHL, behind division-rival Colorado. Another Central team, Minnesota, is tied with Carolina for the third in the NHL standings.
It’s going to be a tough playoff path in the Western Conference. If the playoffs started today, the Stars would have to face the Wild in the first round, with the winner of that series likely facing the Avalanche next.
