2016 NHL All Star Game Odds: Bet John Scott for MVP

NHL All Star weekend and its biggest star could be John Scott, the last player the league wanted in Nashville.

The NHL All Star weekend is usually a fun event for the fans, headlined by superstars like Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, Jonathan Toews and Carey Price, but none of those guys are in Nashville this year. This time it’s tough guy John Scott leading the way at the 2016 NHL All Star weekend, whether the National Hockey League likes it or not.

Scott, a 33-year-old with five career NHL goals, topped the All-Star fan voting this year but allegedly faced pressure from the league to decline the invitation. When he refused, he traded from the Arizona Coyotes to the Montreal Canadiens, who immediately sent him to their AHL affiliate in Newfoundland.

Scott has opened up on the whole situation in a recent post in The Players Tribune and clearly has the support of the fans – his All Star t-shirt has already sold out.

Could he take it one step further and help his Pacific Division teammates win the new 3-on-3 All Star tournament? The Pacific is set as an early +110 underdog against the Central Division, with the winner of that matchup facing the winner of Metropolitan Division vs. Atlantic Division.

What would be a better end to this fiasco than to see the Metro win the tournament and John Scott to be named MVP? Right now, NHL All Star MVP odds have Scott is set as the +400 favourite.
