Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
Point Spread: Eagles -4.5

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

If the six-game suspension of Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott holds up after a legal victory late last week by the NFL, then the NFC East could come down to the Redskins and Eagles as that would be a huge loss for defending division champion Dallas, which already has matched last season’s loss total.

It’s the last meeting already between these rivals. In Week 1, the Eagles were 1-point road favourites and prevailed 30-17 – it was 19-17 with around two minutes remaining. Caleb Sturgis hit a 37-yard field goal, and then Fletcher Cox returned a Kirk Cousins fumble 20 yards for a touchdown to clinch it. Cousins had a rough game, with two lost fumbles and an interception at the Eagles’ goal line. Carson Wentz threw for 307 yards and two scores but had an INT returned for a TD.

Philadelphia is 4-6 in the past 10 at home vs. Washington and just 2-8 ATS, last covering in 2013.

Washington Redskins

The Redskins (3-2 SU, 2-3 ATS) perhaps were looking ahead to this game as they were 11-point home favourites Sunday against winless San Francisco and barely escaped with a 26-24 victory. Washington was up 17-0 at one point. Cousins threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a score; many believe he might sign with San Francisco next offseason in free agency as the Niners’ head coach is Kyle Shanahan, who developed Cousins as Washington’s former offensive coordinator.

The Skins played without running back Rob Kelley and top cornerback Josh Norman and saw a few other defensive players leave the game with injuries. Thus, monitor all those injuries.

Philadelphia Eagles

Are the Eagles (5-1 SU, 4-2 ATS) the best team in the NFC? They are the only five-win team in the conference and their one loss is quite acceptable, coming in Kansas City. Philly is off an impressive 28-23 victory last Thursday at Carolina. Wentz had three touchdown passes and no interceptions and is playing like an MVP candidate. Zach Ertz had two TD catches, and he’s the best tight end in the NFC right now with 34 receptions for 405 yards and four scores on the season.

Pro Bowl defensive tackle Fletcher Cox returned from a two-game injury absence and wreaked havoc on the Panthers in forcing a Cam Newton interception that led eventually led to an Eagles touchdown. Cox finished with two quarterback hits and a half-sack. Philly played without starting right tackle Lane Johnson due to a concussion so he will have to clear protocol to return vs. Washington. The extra day will help. Johnson was missed as Wentz was sacked three times and faced 13 pressures.

Redskins vs. Eagles Prediction

Skins are banged up and Eagles on extra rest; Philly wins 31-24.
