Vikings vs. Jaguars Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction
The 6-2 Vikings bounced back from back-to-back losses with a 21-13 victory over Indianapolis last week. Meanwhile, Jacksonville fell to 2-7 with a 28-23 loss in Philadelphia in Week 9.
Minnesota opened as a 5.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total pegged at 46.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Early bettors don’t seem to think the Vikings are the real deal as the line for this game has been bet down to Minnesota -4.0 as of Tuesday afternoon. Although the teams rarely meet, two of the last three head-to-heads have been decided by overtime field goals.
The total is moving in the opposite direction as it’s climbed to 47.5. That makes sense given the Jaguars have hit the Over in five straight games, while the Vikings have finished above the number in two of their last three.
Minnesota and Jacksonville have both paid off for bettors, with the Vikings going 6-2 against the spread overall. The Jags are 5-4 ATS and they’ve covered in three straight games.
The records for both teams don’t leave a lot of hope for Jacksonville. Not only have the Jaguars lost all five of their road games this season, but Minnesota has been lights out with a 4-1 record at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota put their mini two-game slump behind them last week, although they trailed 7-0 at the half. Sam Darnold was resilient, overcoming four sacks and three turnovers to thrown three second-half TD passes. Darnold finished 28-of-34 for 290 passing yards, three TDs and two interceptions.
Justin Jefferson, who leads the NFL with 783 receiving yards, finished with a season-high 137 yards, while Aaron Jones led the team with 64 rushing yards. Tight end T.J. Hockenson made his season debut last week, finishing with 27 yards on three receptions. You can likely expect more production out of him as he reintegrates into the offence.
The Vikings’ defence was elite through the first six games of the season, but they’ve regressed a bit in the last couple weeks. This looks like a get-right game, however. Jacksonville could be without their two starting tackles this week, so Minnesota’s blitz-happy defence should feast.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville rallied in the second half against the Eagles last week, but a brutal Trevor Lawrence pick ended the comeback bid. Lawrence completed just 16 of 31 pass attempts for 169 yards, no TDs and two interceptions. He did, however, add two rushing TDs, but the Jaguars still need more from Lawrence, who hasn’t thrown for more than two TDs in a game since Week 14 last season.
When you look at the stat lines, Jacksonville was dominated last week. They finished with 232 less total yards than the Eagles and they managed just 60 rushing yards on the day. It doesn’t help that Cam Johnson was traded and right tackle Anton Harrison is dealing with a knee injury. Things could get even tougher for the Jags if they can’t protect Lawrence.
