The Vikings’ August woes continued with last week’s 24-13 loss in Seattle, and they have now fallen to defeat by double-digit margins in three straight pre-season contests. The Titans carried over the struggles that marked the end of last season’s regular season schedule, with last weekend’s 23-17 defeat in Chicago, extending their overall straight up losing streak to eight games.

Despite failing to earn a win sine last November, the Titans arrive in Minnesota perched as 2.5-point road favourites on the NFL pre-season odds. The Vikings lag +128 moneyline underdogs, and the total is pegged at 37.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Saturday night’s matchup at US Bank Stadium marks the first pre-season clash between these squads since 2018. The Vikings powered to a 13-3 road win when they last faced Tennessee in August action five years ago, and have now held the Titans to just three points in two of their past three pre-season contests. Low scoring has been a recurring theme when these teams meet in August. The Titans and Vikings have combined to score 24 or fewer points four times in six pre-season matchups, powering a 4-2 run for the UNDER in totals betting.

Tennessee Titans

Malik Willis cemented his position as the frontrunner in the race to backup starting pivot Ryan Tannehill with a steady performance in last week’s loss to Chicago. Willis started for Tennessee and led the Titans on a pair of first-half scoring drives before turning the ball over to rookie Will Levis in the second half. Overall, Willis connected on 16 of 25 attempts for 189 yards, and with Levis being forced to leave Thursday practice for undisclosed reason, and no urgent need to press Tannehill into service, the 24-year-old looks set to see plenty of action on Saturday. The question is, who will Willis be passing to? A total of 25 receivers made catches for the Titans last week. And with plenty of competition for jobs on a receiving corps that gets pretty thin on experience apart from new addition Deandre Hopkins, the Titans will be eager to see at least one of the many youngsters in camp break through.

Minnesota Vikings

Kirk Cousins watched last week’s 24-13 loss in Seattle from the sidelines, and according to the Vikings star quarterback, he and most other Minnesota starters are unlike to see much action this weekend against Tennessee. That opens the door for Nick Mullens to take plenty of snaps once again. Mullens started in Seattle and connected on 14 of 20 pass attempts with one score before turning over the offence to Jaren Hall. The rookie passer out of BYU struggled in his first taste of NFL action, going 6-for-14 for just 37 yards and no scores while getting sacked twice. A pair of receivers looking to resurrect their NFL careers in Minnesota did see action last week. Former first round pick Jalen Reagor led the way with 55 yards on four catches while another former first-rounder N’Keal Harry compiled 24 yards while getting targeted twice.
