Titans vs. Panthers Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 9 Odds

The Tennessee Titans are riding high on the boost they’ve received from the play of backup quarterback Ryan Tannehill – a situation Kyle Allen and the Carolina Panthers know all too well. Both the Titans and Panthers are still in the playoff chase, but they need more wins in the second half of the campaign for the post-season to become a reality.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Tennessee is a perfect 2-0 straight up (1-0-1 against the spread) since Marcus Mariota was benched and replaced with backup QB Ryan Tannehill. The Titans snatched wins in home games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Chargers. Tennessee was favoured in each of those contests.

The Panthers are coming off their worst loss of the year. The San Francisco 49ers spanked 51-13 in Week 8 despite another solid performance from running back Christian McCaffrey.

Carolina stands in second place in the NFC South, but is 2.5 games behind division leader New Orleans. The Panthers are 4-3 SU and ATS on the season. The loss to the Niners ended a four-game winning streak when the club went a perfect 4-0 against the number.

Sports Interaction opened the spread for this game at 3.5 in favour of the Panthers. The line hasn’t moved despite 69 percent of the betting action on the home side.

The Over is 3-0 in Carolina’s last three games and 2-0 in Tennessee’s last two. SIA opened the total at 41 and hasn’t moved it since.

Tennessee Titans

It appears to be the end of the road for Marcus Mariota in Nashville. The former Heisman Trophy winner was pulled during a Week 6 loss to the Denver Broncos. Mariota is an unrestricted free agent after this season, and Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel doesn’t appear to have faith in his former QB1.

Tannehill isn’t lighting the world on fire in place of Mariota, but he is avoiding the same mistakes that drive coaches mad. In his two starts for the Titans, Tannehill’s passed for five touchdowns against just one interception, and he’s been sacked just five times.

Carolina Panthers

The winning streak was bound to come to an end at some point for Kyle Allen. And while the scoreline wasn’t flattering, there are worse things than losing to an undefeated Niners side.

McCaffrey is still the engine that powers Carolina’s attack. The running back accounted for 155 of the Panthers’ 230 total offensive yards against San Fran.
