Titans vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 5 Odds, Prediction

The Miami Dolphins will finally host their first home game of the season when the Tennessee Titans visit on Sunday. They’ve been pathetic the last two weeks, losing by a combined score of 40-6 to the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints. They could catch a break this week as the Tennessee Titans are banged up at key positions on offense, though.

Point Spread And Betting Analysis

Miami fell to 1-2 straight up and against the spread with last week’s loss to New Orleans. Meanwhile, the Titans are now 2-2 against the spread following a blowout 57-14 loss to the Houston Texans. Tennessee is expected to bounce back this week as they are listed as three-point favorites for their date with the Dolphins.

Tennessee Titans

Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is listed as day-to-day after he left Sunday’s loss to Houston with a strained hamstring. Running back DeMarco Murray is also listed as day-to-day but should be fine for Sunday. Tennessee will need its No. 1 quarterback and No. 1 running back if they are going to win in Miami on Sunday. The Titans offense was shutout and held to 24 yards on 18 plays with Matt Cassel leading the offense in the second half against the Texans last week.

The Titans defense was on the field for 84 plays against Houston compared to just 41 plays on offense. They should be able to do better at getting off the field against a Dolphins team that has scored just six points in the last two weeks against the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets.

Miami Dolphins

Cutler threw for just 164 yards and an interception in Sunday’s 20-0 loss to the Saints. This team continues to look out of sync on offense. While the Dolphins need to do a better job putting Cutler in position to succeed, he can’t afford to turn the ball over in key situations the way that he did against New Orleans.

One of the biggest issues early on this season is the lack of an efficient ground game. Miami has averaged just 66.3 rushing yards per game this season, which ranks 30th in the NFL. Cutler was never supposed to be the focus of the offense but that has been the case in each of the last two weeks since Jay Ajayi hasn’t been able to get going. That needs to change if they’re to take some pressure off the defense.

Miami enters its home opener with its backs against the wall. The Dolphins need to approach this contest like it’s a playoff game in order to avoid falling to 1-3 on the season.
