Titans vs. Colts Point Spread: NFL Week 8 Odds, Prediction

The Indianapolis Colts aim to cement their grasp on top spot in the AFC South with a fourth straight win when they host the last-place Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon in NFL Week 8 betting action at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Colts return home after handing the Los Angeles Chargers a decisive 38-24 loss, and have now won eight of their past 10 since Christmas including six straight victories on home turf.

The Titans look to be headed in the opposite direction in the wake of last week’s crushing 31-13 loss to the visiting new England Patriots, and vying for just their second road victory since Thanksgiving of last year.

The Colts have vaulted to heavy 14-point favourites on the NFL Week 8 odds. The Titans trail as distant +750 underdogs on the NFL moneyline, and the total is listed at 47.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Colts look to record a sixth straight victory over the division rival Titans on Sunday afternoon. Indy swept last year’s season series with a pair of decisive wins, capped by a lopsided 41-20 win in Nashville in Week 3, and have covered in each of the wins during their 5-0 head-to-head run while claiming victory by 8.2 points per game.

The Colts have also run up the score during their overall three-game win streak, averaging 36.3 points per game and enter NFL Week 8 leading the league with 33.1 points scored per game.

However, Indianapolis has produced mixed results as double-digit chalk, losing outright in two of their past three and going just 1-4 ATS in their past five.

Currently last in the NFL with just 13.7 points per game, the Titans have been a dismal bet so far this season, going just 1-5 ATS in their past six games. Overall, Tennessee has scored just 11.3 points per game over their past four contests and have reached 20 points just twice during their 1-6 start.

However, this team has risen to the occasion when pegged as double-digit dogs on the road, winning outright in three of six while covering four times.

Tennessee Titans

It has ben a rough road for star quarterback Cam Ward in his NFL debut. Selected first overall in this year’s NFL Draft, Ward has endured a trial by fire leading the Titans offence, completing just 57.6 per cent of pass attempts for just four TDs, along with five picks, all of which have come in the past five games.

Overall, Ward has seen all but one of his scoring passes come in garbage time including his lone TD pass versus the Colts last month. However, it is tough to fault the talented rookie, who has been forced to compete behind a porous offensive line that has allowed him to be sacked 30 times so far this season.

Things will get no easier on Sunday, particularly if veteran receiver Calvin Ridley is unavailable after missing practice with a hamstring injury. Indeed, the Titans injury report features a number of key defensive personnel including cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, defensive ends Sebastian Joseph-Day and Jeffrey Simmons, and lineman Arden Key. That could mean few opportunities for Ward and the Tennessee offence to get something going.

Indianapolis Colts

For the second year in a row, the Colts have been forced to turn to a veteran quarterback to lead their attack, at least temporarily, and Daniel Jones has seized the opportunity. Cast off by the bottom-feeding New York Giants after enduring six lost seasons in the Big Apple, “Danny Dimes” has revitalized his career in Indianapolis while playing a key role in this team’s resurgence.

Now pegged as an intriguing +450 bet to claim this season’s NFL Comeback Player of the Year honours, Jones has looked increasingly comfortable as the season has progressed, tossing for 10 TDs including two in each of the past three games, while also running for four scores. Jones attempted just 25 passes when the Colts visited Tennessee last month, but with the Titans defence racked by injuries, look for the pay out as a -105 bet to complete OVER 21.5 passes and connect on OVER 1.5 scoring passes.

However, NFL betting fans should not overlook the NFL’s leading rusher Jonathan Taylor, who has run for 10 scores and is worth backing as a +125 bet to score 2+ TDs on Sunday.
