Tom Brady, Bucs, 2020

Can Tom Brady run back the Bucs to the Super Bowl? SIA has Tampa Bay as one of the favourites posted at +605.

Tom Brady’s first season in South Florida ended with a Super Bowl celebration. Now, the 44-year old will be looking for an encore performance entering the 2021 season. Tom Terrific is showing no signs of aging. In the 2020 season, he passed for 4633 yards and 40 touchdowns. He added another 1061 yards and 10 touchdowns in the post season and won three road playoff games and then the Super Bowl. Will it ever stop? That’s a tough question to answer, because it appears the answer is clearly no.

Health will be a factor and something the Bucs can’t control. Last year this roster was among the healthiness in the NFL, so credit lady luck on that one. The roster, for the most part, returns almost every single championship piece (all 22 starters), which is rare in this era of football.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Acquisitions and Moves

The only real loss for Tampa was lineman Joe Haeg, who signed a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Other than that, it was a very successful off season for the champs. Tampa was busy resigning a lot of their key players including Linebacker Lavonte David, Rush End Shaquil Barrett, Receivers Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown, Tight End Rob Gronkowski, Defensive End Ndamukong Suh and Running back Leonard Fournette. Very impressive.

The Bucs also added a sure-handed pass-catching running back Giovani Bernard (free agent) from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tom Brady is ranked fourth on MVP candidates list at Sports Interaction only between Patrick Mahomes (+455), Josh Allen (+900) and Aaron Rodgers (+900). Brady is paying +1200 to capture his fourth MVP trophy. He is also listed at +500 to throw the most touchdown passes for the season, just behind Patrick Mahomes (+330).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2021 NFL Schedule

The Bucs are coming off an 11-5 season in 2020. Tampa Bay is tied for the 3rd-easiest slate this coming season. That’s based on opponents’ records from the previous year. That is very good news for the champs.

The Bucs will get the spotlight with a prime-time game against the Dallas Cowboys on NFL opening night. Interesting note, the Bucs have a relatively easy conclusion to the regular season with two games against the Panthers sandwiched in between a date with the Jets. Tom Brady is 27-9 lifetime versus the Jets.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Betting Odds

The Buccaneers are paying -278 to win the division. Their over/under win total is listed at 11.5 wins. The over is paying -154 and I think Tampa Bay can reach the 12-win mark with this type of schedule. Currently at Sports Interaction, Tampa is paying +294 to win the conference. The Bucs are also paying +794 at SIA to be the highest scoring team in the NFL. That’s second behind only the Chiefs, who are paying +499.

The Buccaneers are paying +605 to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

NFL 21/22

  • Los Angeles Rams +207
  • San Francisco +466
  • Cincinnati +859

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2021 Season Prediction

There is a lot of optimism in Tampa, and for good reason. They have a weak schedule in a weak division and they returned basically their entire roster from the 2020 season.

I think the Bucs will finish the season with a 12-5 record and represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
