Super Bowl Prop of the Day: Who will Score the First Touchdown?
Who will be the First Touchdown Scorer?
Betting on the first touchdown scorer is an enjoyable prop in any game, but let’s be honest, it’s essentially a lottery ticket. There’s no reliable formula that can guarantee a specific player will score the first touchdown in Sunday’s game. However, here’s an informed “prediction” of who I believe will be the first player to reach the end zone in the big game.
During this season, the 49ers and Chiefs ranked second and third in terms of first touchdowns scored, with only the Baltimore Ravens ahead of them.
San Francisco secured the first score in 14 out of 19 games this season, encompassing both the regular season and playoffs. Additionally, they have scored first in seven of their last ten games.
It’s no surprise that Running Back Christian McCaffrey leads the 49ers with four first touchdowns out of the 14, closely followed by Wide Receiver Brandon Aiyuk with three.
The number three is particularly noteworthy, considering Aiyuk has a total of seven touchdowns this season. A striking 42.85% of his touchdowns have been the first in the game, making him the leader in this category for the 49ers.
Furthermore, Aiyuk has been the primary target in the team’s passing game, boasting 75 receptions for 1342 yards. In fact, Aiyuk has the most impressive receiving statistics of any offensive player from either team this season.
