Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to make history on Feb. 9 when they will attempt to become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls. Can Mahomes add to his legacy? Let’s take a look at the numbers with some props to buy and fade.

Super Bowl 59 Party Prop Bet Sheet

Buy: Patrick Mahomes passing TDs

Mahomes hasn’t thrown for multiple TDs in either playoff game this year, but I think that changes on Sunday. Remember, he has 43 passing TDs in 20 career playoff games and he’s thrown for multiple TDs in three of four Super Bowl appearances.

If the Super Bowl turns into a one-score game, which the Chiefs thrive in, Andy Reid’s game plan will be to put the ball in Mahomes’ hands. I don’t expect Mahomes to rack up passing yards, but he’ll make at least a couple of key passes that result in scoring plays.

Fade: Patrick Mahomes passing completions

I’m expecting Mahomes to have an effective, but not dominant day on Sunday. Mahomes has finished with less than 24 completions eight times this year, including both of Kansas City’s playoff games. In fact, he didn’t even surpass 18 completions in playoff games against Buffalo and Houston.

When you look at Mahomes’ playoff numbers, he’s failed to make 24 completions in six of nine games over the last three years, including when the Chiefs and Eagles met in Super Bowl 57. Philadelphia’s defence has only improved since that game, so I’m banking on Philadelphia containing Mahomes.
