Steelers vs. Falcons Point Spread: NFL Week 13 Odds, Prediction
Both clubs may have seven losses on the season, but the 4-7 Steelers are in last place in the AFC North while the 5-7 Falcons can possibly enter a tie for the AFC South with a win Sunday.
It’s a short week for Pittsburgh too after coming off a 24-17 win in Indianapolis on Monday Night Football. Atlanta came up just short last Sunday, falling 19-13 to Washington. And now as the post-season approaches, it’s getting to do-or-die territory for both squads.
Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium starts at 1 p.m. EST, with the Steelers the slightest -115 moneyline favourite on the road and the total at 43 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Pittsburgh enters Sunday having covered in seven straight games versus NFC South opponents. And while the division has been kind to Pittsburgh, the AFC North overall has been a huge challenge for the Falcons who are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 versus AFC North opponents. Head-to-head it’s all Pittsburgh too, who are 12-1-1 in these teams last 14 matchups.
Both defences are in the bottom third of the league when it comes to points allowed, as each surrender at least 23 points a game. Pittsburgh remains a bottom-five offence too with 17.6 points per game, but their over-under is split even on the road is 3-3 this season. The same goes for the Falcons overall who have a 6-6 over-under split.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers rushed the ball 36 times for 172 yards and two scores in Monday’s win at Indianapolis, which is 10 more carries than they’ve averaged this season. Pittsburgh did this with starting running back Najee Harris leave with an oblique injury after receiving 10 carries for 35 yards. Harris missed practice Wednesday, meaning if he’s out rookie Jaylen Warren would be in line to return from his hamstring injury and get the start.
Linebackers T.J. Watt (ribs) and linebacker Myles Jack (knee), along with safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (ribs) were all limited in practice Wednesday. This trio all suiting up have played a huge role in the Steelers knocking down their yards allowed to under 300 in Pittsburgh’s last three contests, so their official statuses for Week 13 should be monitored.
Atlanta Falcons
A late Marcus Mariota red zone interception, Atlanta’s lone turnover last weekend, ended the Falcons comeback bid in Washington in a game they otherwise did a lot of things well in. That’s aside from scoring points, which has been a problem for an Atlanta team averaging 18 points over their last three games.
The Falcons averaged 5.8 yards a carry and ran for 167 yards last weekend, which is just above their season pace. Atlanta is a top-five team in both yards per carry and total rushing yards per game. Rookie Tyler Allgeier and veteran Cordarrelle Patterson led the way in Week 12 with 11 carries each. Both backs are now over 500 rushing yards on the season.
