Seattle Seahawks 2026 NFL season preview, analysis and predictions

The Super Bowl LX champions enter the 2026-27 season aiming to defend their crown, but they haven’t been the talk of the town this offseason when it comes to the NFC West.

The Los Angeles Rams are the Super Bowl favourites entering the preseason after trading for Myles Garrett, but Seattle is quietly having a fantastic offseason. Although offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is no longer in town after taking the head coaching job with the Las Vegas Raiders, Seattle was able to re-sign the vast majority of the same team that just won the Super Bowl.

We’re still over a month away from Week 1, but there are already bets to be made, so let’s get into my Seattle Seahawks preview.

Seattle Seahawks NFL futures

The Seahawks are coming off a historic season, as they entered the preseason with +6000 odds to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. The last team to win the Super Bowl with identical or longer odds in the preseason was the 2001 New England Patriots (+6000). That will not be the case this season, as they currently carry the fourth-shortest odds to win Super Bowl LXI. Here are a few betting markets for the Seahawks this season:

• Win the Super Bowl (+1200)
• Win the NFC (+600)
• No. 1 seed in the NFC (+590)
• Win the NFC West (+220)
• Make the playoffs (-225)
• Regular season wins – Over 10.5 (-115) | Under 10.5 (-105)

You can also target various markets related to player performance, as WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Here are a few betting markets related to Seahawks players.

• Sam Darnold to win MVP (+3000)
• Jaxon Smith-Njigba to win Offensive Player of the Year (+1600)
• Mike Macdonald to win Coach of the Year (+7500)

Seattle Seahawks squad strengths

This Seattle team will continue to rely on an elite defence combined with big chunk plays. Last season, the Seahawks’ biggest strength was their defence; they allowed just 285.6 yards per game (sixth in the NFL), 91.9 rushing yards per game (third in the NFL), and 17.2 points per game (first in the NFL).

The good news is that the vast majority of Seattle’s defence will return this season, and the only hole they truly have to fill is the loss of starting safety Coby Bryant, No. 3 cornerback Riq Woolen and rotational edge rusher Boye Mafe. However, superstar CB Devon Witherspoon is still in the mix, and Seattle is working on extending his contract. 

WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba is Seattle’s biggest threat on offence and established himself as one of the NFL’s best wideouts last season. If QB Sam Darnold can limit his interceptions as he did in the postseason, I expect this Seahawks team to be extremely difficult to beat.

Seattle Seahawks squad weaknesses

Seattle’s biggest weakness starts and ends with Sam Darnold. The 29-year-old QB put a lot of his haters to bed last season with a Super Bowl victory, but I still have question marks. Darnold threw 14 interceptions last season, and Geno Smith (17) and Tua Tagovailoa (15) were the only QBs that threw more. If Darnold can get this number below 10, the Seahawks will be in a much better place.

Otherwise, Seattle will have to replace Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III after he signed a three-year, $43.05 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. RB Zach Charbonnet suffered an ACL tear last February, so we will likely see a three-man committee. George Holani, No. 32 overall pick Jadarian Price, and free agent pickup Emanuel Wilson will all have a chance to leave their mark on a backfield that produced 123.3 rushing yards per game last season (11th in the NFL).

Seattle Seahawks 2026 NFL season prediction: Under 10.5 wins (-105)

The Seahawks are coming off a fantastic season, but they enter this one with a new offensive coordinator and a running back room with minimal experience. Although I expect Seattle’s defence to be one of the best in the league again, I’m having a hard time picturing this team scoring 28.4 PPG like last season. Additionally, the NFC West is greatly improved with Garrett in LA, a healthy 49ers team, and an Arizona team that will likely improve on their 3-14 record.

Seattle also has to play the New England Patriots, the AFC West, NFC East, and Chicago Bears. That out-of-division schedule is no joke, and I expect this Seahawks team to finish with a 9-8 or 10-7 record.
