Seahawks vs. Panthers Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 15 Odds

The Seattle Seahawks are fresh off a surprising performance. On Sunday Night Football, the Seahawks’ five-game winning streak ended when they were easily handled by the Los Angeles Rams as they were blown out 28-12. This week, the Seahawks have an excellent chance to get back on track against a Carolina Panthers squad that appears to have quit on the season. The Panthers have lost five in a row and can’t seem to get back on track.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Seahawks have been excellent on the road this season as they are 5-1 straight up and 4-1-1 against the spread. They’re 10-3 ATS in their last 13 off a divisional game and 11-3 straight (4-0 this season) in their last 14 against teams with a losing record.

The Panthers are a team that’s trending in the wrong direction as they’ve dropped five in a row and have failed to cover the spread in four of those games. They’re just 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games where the total is between 45.5 and 49 points. They’re 2-4 ATS and SU this season when playing at home.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks had a surprisingly weak showing on Sunday Night Football as they were never really in the game against the Rams. That was unexpected because the team had won five straight and eight of nine. They were tied for the best record in the NFC head into the game.

The good news is they should get back on track quite easily this week. Carolina has basically quit on the season and can wait to get through these final three games. The Panthers are just 2-4 at home this season and if they can’t beat teams like the Washington Redskins at home, they’re probably not going to beat the Seahawks.

For Seattle, everything starts with their ground game. They should have no problems this week as the Panthers run defense allows a whopping 5.3 yards-per-carry, which is the worst mark in the NFL. If Chris Carson has a good game and the running attack is there to support Russell Wilson, they should cruise to a win over a Panthers team that isn’t really showing much fight these days.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are in the midst of a nosedive and there doesn’t appear to be anything that can help them. Last week, they canned head coach Ron Rivera in hopes that it would spark a change. Instead, the Panthers were again blown out, this time by the 5-8 Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers lost 40-20 and that score looks a bit tighter than the game actually was as the Panthers added points in garbage time.

Carolina has problems on both sides of the ball as on offense, quarterback Kyle Allen has gone into the tank. Allen had three turnovers on Sunday and has been quite the turnover machine since earlier in this season. He had seven touchdowns and no picks in his first four games; he has nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions since.

On defense, Carolina has no answers for stopping the run, which is what is contributing to these blowouts. The run defense is giving up 139.2 rushing yards per game, which is the fourth-worst mark in the league. Unless that changes, they’re going to continue to get blown out.
