San Francisco 49ers NFL Predictions: 2019 Season Betting Odds and Preview
The San Francisco 49ers are betting on Jimmy Garoppolo – again. After he went down with an ACL tear in Week 3 last year, San Francisco’s season went off the rails with a leaky defence and an offence that couldn’t move the ball competently with Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard filling in for Jimmy G. San Francisco averaged just 21.4 points while allowing 27.2 per game, so it goes without saying that there is a lot of room for improvement.
San Francisco 49ers Acquisitions and Transactions
There’s only so much you can do in one off-season and the 49ers made a commitment to their defence by inking Kwon Alexander to a four-year deal. He should help stop the run. They also nabbed defensive lineman Dee Ford from the Chiefs after he pulled down 13 sacks last season. On offence, San Francisco added Tevin Coleman to an already stacked group of running backs that also includes Jerick McKinnon, and Matt Breida.
San Francisco 49ers 2019 NFL Schedule
The Niners were the only team in the NFL that didn’t win on the road last year and they’ll get two cracks at a visiting victory to start the season. After that, it’s going to be a tough road for San Francisco. CBS Sports ranks the 49ers’ schedule as the 11th-toughest in the league this year.

San Francisco 49ers NFL Betting and Odds
Things are finally looking up for San Francisco 49ers supporters. The Niners over/under win total is set at 8.5 and they’re at +190 to make the playoffs. The post-season might be a stretch for this team this season, but if they can actually pick up a couple of wins on the road and they stay healthy, they might be able to snap the string of four consecutive losing years. Over bettors went 9-7 in San Francisco games last year and that could be a bet to target again this season.
The 49ers may have made some moves on defence, but this isn’t going to instantly transform in a top-10 unit. Meanwhile, with a healthy Garoppolo taking snaps, there is reason for optimism on offence. George Kittle is coming off an 88-catch season that churned out 1377 yards and five touchdowns and his ceiling is higher than that this year.
San Francisco 49ers Season Prediction
Any way you slice it, it’s hard to find more than eight wins on San Francisco’s schedule even if the team gets off to a good start before Week 4’s bye. It’s very tough sledding from Week 12 onward, so this team would have to be in very good shape before that to be in post-season contention. We don’t see it. Maybe Garoppolo gets the offence back to respectable with a strong stable of running backs, there are too many questions on defence just yet.
Prediction: The 49ers get back in the mix for a while but finish out of the playoff picture and under 8.5 wins at 7-9. Savvy San Francisco bettors jump on the over early and often as 10 of the team’s games finish about their posted totals.
