Las Vegas Raiders and RB Josh Jacobs Agree to One-Year Deal
It was a summer of discontent for many running backs in the NFL, including the 2022 rushing leader, Josh Jacobs. Both he and the Las Vegas Raiders have arrived at a deal that will replace his previous franchise tagging.

Raiders’ RB Josh Jacobs Signs for One-Year, $12M
Several running backs went through whirlwind summers of re-negotiating deals and threatening their clubs with holdouts. To be fair, the market has not been favourable towards them as of late, but sooner or later, one takes what one can get. Both the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Mixon and the New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley either signed deals that entailed pay cuts or barely any more than what their respective franchise tags dictated.
Las Vegas Raiders Pro Bowl calibre rusher Josh Jacobs was much more serious in his stance. He hasn’t partaken in any team activities whatsoever since training camp started, nor has he signed the franchise tag offer.
Team general manager Dave Ziegler, Jacobs, and the latter’s agent were hard at work this week to finally work through their differences. Mission accomplished, so to speak.
Josh Jacobs is still a Raider, albeit for one year. The deal is worth up to $12M, including incentives. Raiders fans and the player’s coaches and teammates can breathe a sigh of relief. On the other hand, this conclusion resembles that of the Saquon Barkley saga in New York. Jacobs’ tag was for $10.091 million. Now he’s getting $12 million if he attains incentives. It’s not a huge difference, but it’s still a bit more.
Be that as it may, the Raiders can enter the 2023 season with one of the most effective running games in the NFL. Given the competition in the AFC West, they’ll need all hands on deck and that’s exactly what they have now.
